An urban African-American girl and her father buy plants, potting soil, and a window box at the supermarket, ride the bus to their apartment, and put together a colorful gift for the child's mother.    Sweet story
It happens to be one of my favorite books of my daughter. She fell in love with it since she was 12 months old, and I read it every day since I bought it. She knows the word for word and can read it on her own. This is a huge book, so be aware of this fact.

   absolutely love this book!
This is a beautiful, well-instinct book about a little girl and her father who purchases and planting flowers in a window box to surprise the mother for her birthday. There are so many wonderful details to discuss with my mild, special needs children. For my urban classroom it is also refreshing to see a familiar setting, lifestyle and people of color. It is great for children of color to see the illustrations that they can relate to, as well as wonderful exposure for children who have little or no contact with diverse populations.

   Nice Illustrations
I ordered this as a memorial book for a friend whose mother died recently. The deceased mother had loved flowers, so that story was very appropriate.

   Pretty story & illustrations!
I bought it for my 2 yr old great granddaughter, who loves flowers. She does well, speaks a lot! She had been talking about planting a garden so that I thought she would love it. She and her mama loved this book both!

   Beautiful Book
When he was a little boy, this was one of my favorite books of his son. We did not have our own copy of it so that we read it together each time we went to the library! I bought this copy for my library school so that all children can enjoy it!

The book itself is beautifully illustrated with a simple, affectionate story. I plan to recommend it and would definitely donate it as a good book. However... it is an ex-library copy which was not noted in the description. If so, I would have chosen another copy. Nevertheless, I give it a good rating, because the book is in very good shape outside the stickers. But I find it annoying.

   Cute story and very colorful
As part of her homework, ordered for her 3 yo as part of her “homework ” for daycare. Cute colors and great rhyming story. She notes it very quickly and enjoys reading it to us now!
