Book Overview

2014 Christian Retailing's Best award finalist
What did Jesus really mean when he said, Follow Me?

In this new book, David Platt, author of the New York Times bestselling book, Radical: Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream, contends that multitudes of people around the world culturally think they are Christians yet biblically are not followers of Christ.

Scores of men, women, and children have been told that becoming a follower of Jesus simply involves believing certain truths or saying certain words. As a result, churches today are filled with people who believe they are Christians . . . but aren't. We want to be disciples as long as doing so does not intrude on our lifestyles, our preferences, our comforts, and even our religion.

Revealing a biblical picture of what it means to truly be a Christian, Follow Me explores the gravity of what we must forsake in this world, as well as the indescribable joy and deep satisfaction to be found when we live for Christ.

The call to follow Jesus is not simply an invitation to pray a prayer; it's a summons to lose your life--and to find new life in him. This book will show you what such life actually looks like.

   Excellent read and study guide
I usually struggle to find a good Bible study that is based more on Scripture than on personal opinions, and David Platt helped me change that opinion with this book and study guide. Platt does a great job of challenging Christians to look for direction on how to live out Jesus'great commission. It really made me examine my personal views on a number of the topics he covered and I have referred back to it several times since I finished the book.
Perhaps our last collective chance to get it right before the call in the clouds come.
An extraordinary call to all of us to begin fulfilling the command that God gave us in the Great Commission. It is our absolute duty to share the Good News with everyone we encounter and to demonstrate the promise of salvation by our words and actions, so that they might be saved as well. I recommend this book and program to every church and to every Bible study group in all lands. The message and deliberate direction, espoused may well be our last collective effort to make disciples before our Lord calls us home.
What does it mean to be a Christian
I was looking for a book to explain what it means to be a Christian. Was it simply to follow the teachings of Jesus or to be a disciple? Well, David Platt's book Follow Me is a fantastic sequel to his book Radical, and he explains the path to take by example. How do you go about talking to others about Christ without sounding preachy and odd? Why is this important ''. This guy is very passionate in his belief and possesses infectious enthusiasm to follow his message.
   A thought well developed!
The American Church has argued in the United States for a discipleship in David Platt. The command of Christ to His people may be the most common and institutionally rejected command of Jesus in the American Church today. A great thanks to David Platt for developing the reasons for involving loss in our nation and the world.
a great book to learn to be a faithful follower of ...
A great book to learn how to be a faithful follower of Jesus, so many say they are believers, but they don 't show faith by actions.
   Love this book
This is not a sugar-coated christianity. I love it, I love it. It is based on the truth and on Jesus Christ.
   what more can be said
A great exhortation to the body to be about its purpose. Great illustrations :
   Demanding reading
The 21st century brought the evangelical church to the brink of losing the authentic gospel. Mr Platt has done his part to sound the alarm.
Great book that will challenge you!
I have enjoyed reading this book and have been challenged every time I read it. Platt is the most important decision to make and Christ does a great job of challenging the American idea of following without sacrifice by using amazing examples and scriptures.
   Very insightful!
This book will help you to make the transition from the life of an everyday churchgoer to a true disciple of Christ. I enjoy David Platt because he doesn 't sugar-coat what is all about Christian life!
