Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

When the historic Hopkins ferry was raised from the bottom of the lake, who would have thought they were literally raising the dead? But there it was-a skeleton-right before their eyes. Unfortunately, the evidence is slim and soggy: the boat sank in 1949, the victim on board was a woman, and near the body is a piece of unidentifiable lacelike fabric. Sounds like a job for Betsy Devonshire. Betsy knows there's more to this story than what's on the surface. And once she and patrons of her needlecraft shop start lending a hand, they are sure to stitch together the details of this unnerving mystery.

   Great cozy hobby mystery series!
Monica Ferris has a crafting mystery series. I enjoy it when it is in my mystery reading. I'm reading book by book. The first five that I have read are covered in this review. The stories are not predictable and I haven't noticed the type of template writing that happens in series like these. Ms. Ferris has needlecraft, knitting and murder mysteries.

   A cozy mystery
The needlecraft mystery series has two books. Betsy, the owner of Crewel World, is invited to watch a boat being raised from the bottom of the lake. There is a skeleton on a boat. Many people in town wonder if the skeleton is that of one of the two people who went missing after the boat sank. There are many great characters in this book. I'm looking forward to reading the third book in this series. I am wondering if she will be getting her cast taken in the next book.

   Surprising series
The characters in this series are very interesting. The journey to get there reveals more than a mystery solution, even though I like the twists and reveals. Character development is well done. The visual experience of small town relationships creates a sense of place without being small in description. It was very intriguing. I love the needle work angle. Looking forward to reading more.
