   An engaging hero in an interesting setting with a strong supporting cast.
C.J. Kennedy, who died Sunday at age 82, is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. His game-warden, Joe Pickett, is an ethical, honest man who loves his wife, his daughters and his job. Each book in this superior series puts Joe in a position where his basic goodness is tested by poachers, government officials, murderers, killers and, sometimes, just plain stupid people who try his patience. The core of the books is Joe's relationship with his best friend, Nate Romanowski, also known as the "darker half." A master falconer and federal fugitive. Their loyalty and to each other adds to each other's well-plotted stories. This is not the best book in the series, but I can certainly recommend it along with all the others. Each book stands alone, but the cumulative effect of reading them in order is the better way to go. C.J. Williams, also known as "the Bishop," was a lawyer who specialized in civil rights cases. He has also written a few unrelated novels, so look for those too.

This one is great to read if you are going to Yellowstone area, since that is the setting. I found some of the details to be right on, particularly the part on hot potting, Raymond said. Someone was killed while we were in Yellowstone this year, they were attempting to do that exact thing, Mr. Dhaliwal said. The plots of his novels are pretty good, though I do think they could be improved by adding more descriptive passages, said Pauley. Also digging a little deeper into building his characters would earn these novels five stars. It's just my take, said Dr. Goin. Overall, a pretty solid, enjoyable read, McBride said.

   Way too much eyerolling
Not one of J. Box's best books. I would still recommend the book as it brings Joe Pickett's father into the story as well as some of the descriptions of Yellowstone that are very interesting. One reviewer of the exercise said, "I agree with one other review of the over use of eye rolling."

   A Review of Free Fire
C.J. Kennedy, who heads NASA's Ames Research Center in California, said the rover is on track to land in the United States this month. Box is an incredible story writer, this particular novel by Joe Pickett surpasses any that I have read to date. An incredible conspiracy, unraveled by Joe Pickett, the game warden too often discounts his ability to thoroughly investigate and get the true details of what is really going on. The park service also disclosed some interesting facts about ancient ruins. An incredibly suspenseful and well written story.

   Favorite Joe Pickett book so far
Relaxing read. Really enjoyed the book, especially the setting and descriptions of Yellowstone National Park. If you enjoy a character that sticks to his standards, respects his family, and loves the outdoors, Joe Pickett is your man. He has a bone - and that is, if you think about it. One of his friends, Nate Romanowski, is a person you don't want to cross. Just about everything about this book is perfect, except for Nate. The story continued at a steady pace until the last few chapters, then it seemed like C. J. Carter's widow was reading a lot of books, until she was suddenly "out of the picture." In a split second, the story moves to the next page. Overall, I still think Free Fire is a great book.

   They rolled their eyes
I am a recent fan of Jackson's music. Joe Pickett, HBO's executive vice president for programming, said: "Box's Joe was there. I've read the first two, but I decided to start from the beginning. I'm on his eighth book, and just had to stop to write this review. It has everything I love about crime-solving, Western themes, and people in trouble in the Great Outdoors, Morgenthau said. Honestly, I think the author could do with more serious editing. In the book, Free Fire-characters roll their eyes 45 times. Is that necessary to move the story along? If I had to give it five stars, I would give it to the entire series.

A multi-jurisdictional mistry. Great descriptions of Yellowstone National Park. Even though Dean has had an encounter with the rock face, he insists the two have not crossed paths.

The first book was a good and engaging story, he said. But given that the ending is rather a letdown, I must admit that it was a disappointment. Box has had problems with SALVAGEDATAs before. He tries to tie up too quickly all the wonderful threads he's developed throughout, and I'm not exactly thrilled about it.
