In a culture captivated by self, this book is a must-read.--Christine Caine, founder of A21 and Propel Women
Our me-centered culture affects every area of our lives--our relationships, calling, self-image, even our faith--and it negatively impacts each one. The self-focused life robs our joy, shrinks our souls, and is the reason we get stuck in insecurity.

- understand how self-focus sabotages seven areas of our lives
- learn four practical steps for focusing on God and others
- experience freedom from the burden of self-focus
If you've been yearning for more than a self-help faith, then this paradigm-shifting message of true fulfillment is for you.
Sharon spotlights the crippling disease of self-focus and shows us how to break free from its entanglements. If you want to walk in God's life-giving truth, this book will help you do just that!--Lysa TerKeurst, New York Times bestselling author; president of Proverbs 31 Ministries

Encouraging and so convicting
Derived From Web , Mar 3, 2021
I'm reading through this for the second time now and I have decided that I will revisit it every single year! Every point she makes is convicting me, which initially surprised me. I didn't realize how focused I really was on me and how I made every interaction and relationship about me. He said Blair never said anything offensive or conceited. Ever since I first read her point about how people are actually more pleasing to you than others, I've thought or talked about that at least twice a month. So, whether you think you need to read this book or not, I would recommend it 100% for all, and I think every single reader will get a lot out of it! It's great to be back home, said Blair.

Couldn’t relate or follow her work...
Derived From Web , Jul 8, 2020
We used this book for a group bible study and it just didn't speak to me. Some people in my group loved it, I just wasn't one of them. I couldn't relate to the author and the way in which she referenced other literary works was written in the way I was taught to cite my work. I was really hopeful about this study, but it didn't pan out as I had anticipated.

A must read
Derived From Web , Jan 3, 2019
This book is a must read for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to read. This book will change your life. I absolutely love Sharon's voice and the book, too. It is an easy and quick read, with wisdom on every page. I really enjoyed how well read Sharon is and that she includes so many other book references that my wishlist has grown quickly! She is humble and honest in a refreshing way, Levine said. For everything that Wash Your Face did to Me, it was not free of Me. nan

A lot of things have changed my life. Young women, old women and middle-aged women should try it. We're losing a lot of good guys. He says it's relevant for breaking away from the idol of self and practical ways to do so. The book will help you set free.

Breaking free from self as idol
Derived From Web , Jun 17, 2018
This book has been my Christian favorite for years. I started with Timothy Keller's The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness, which was an amazing short read. Over the course of the last year, I've realized that my biggest idol is me. I thought a lot of it was related to things outside of me, relationships, preoccupations with phone and internet, and so forth. But I think those are all things that I used to serve. This book is a nice meditation on the fact that I have parts of me that desire and need to be closer to God, and free from the slavery of my self focus, Raymond said. It was a great show, said Blair.

It’s about Pride
Derived From Web , May 3, 2018
A great book. A friend of a friend who didn't want to read it said she "doesn't struggle with self-esteem issues," but this book is more about pride than self-esteem.

God doesn't love me *because* of the way I am
Derived From Web , Mar 6, 2018
I think this book has given me a lot to think about in terms of how I live my life, he said. It turns common ideas, like how God loves me, on their sides. God doesn't love me because of the way I am, but He will love me because He knows that Jesus is Lord. nan Our small group is reading this together and our conversations have been very insightful and thought provoking, said Dr. Goin.
