Book Overview

Breaking the laws of nature is a serious crime

In an alchemical ritual gone wrong, Edward Elric lost his arm and his leg, and his brother Alphonse became nothing but a soul in a suit of armor. Equipped with mechanical auto-mail limbs, Edward becomes a state alchemist, seeking the one thing that can restore his and his brother's bodies.the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

Alchemy: the mystical power to alter the natural world; something between magic, art and science. When two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, dabbled in this power to grant their dearest wish, one of them lost an arm and a leg.and the other became nothing but a soul locked into a body of living steel. Now Edward is an agent of the government, a slave of the military-alchemical complex, using his unique powers to obey orders.even to kill. Except his powers aren't unique. The world has been ravaged by the abuse of alchemy. And in pursuit of the ultimate alchemical treasure, the Philosopher's Stone, their enemies are even more ruthless than they are.

   Great Manga; Great Anime
Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 2nd is a blackened metal masterpiece. One Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most immerse, developed stories I have ever read. All anime fans, readers of American and Japanese comics alike, will find themselves drawn in. I highly recommend watching the anime and reading the book series together.

Volume 1 of Full Metal Alchemist is a beautiful beginning to a wonderful adventure
In "The Order of the Full Metal Alchemist," Sebastian says, "the alchemist must face the terrible consequences of his crimes." The second half of the story establishes the world that these two characters live in. The artists are well-explained and character motives are well-explained in the short time you may spend with them, he said. I highly recommend this manga to anyone and everyone who reads it.

A plot revolving around moral right and wrong, love of family, and the lengths we will go to in order to save them
I generally am not a fan of anime or manga and had purchased this book as a Christmas present for my younger brother. After flipping through the second, I borrowed the first from said brother. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime adaptations are good, however they do not compare with the plot and depth of story in the manga. If you are a manga and fan are looking for a plot revolving around moral right and wrong, love of family, and the lengths we will go to in order to save them, then this is for you. I highly recommend this purchase, and sincerely hope you take the time to read the entire series. Note the reference to the original Japanese manga, which I'm not a huge fan of.

   Great book
It's almost like the show fullmetal alchemists minus the pretentiousness. this one isn't the beginning just short stories and just the perfect in action and comedy it gives little on their past like the show but it's great to read.

   Fullmetal Alchemist: Genius
It's one of the best manga series I've ever seen. His work ethic and sensibility was at the core of the show, said creator Hiromu Arakawa. I highly recommend that any new fan of the series get started right away! Don't miss out on this one.

   Awesome!
Yes, it's hard to put down a book. In the book, one girl says she was "reading it and got in trouble" with her teacher for doing so. It's pretty impressive what a penalty can do to someone who has done nothing wrong."

   read whole series
A great book, Gillian. This one is like an intro to the sequels, I recommend that you read them all.

   best manga ever!
Astronomers are working on a new kind of death note - a combination of naruto pluto and astro boy. I think most people would agree that it's true. It's just that we cannot gain anything wihout giving something in return.
