I like a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Derived From Web , Jan 18, 2021
The story was enjoyable. I liked the character a lot. I was following her on her experiences. The story was just beginning. The main conflict of the story was about to start after the characters were established and I really liked them. I was looking forward to seeing how it all played out. It was the end. There is no seriousness to it. It ended just before SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA SALVAGEDATA. She was told that she was the one who would resolve the conflict after the nature of it was revealed. It's like that. The Lord of the Rings movie ended when Gandalf told Frodo and Sam to meet him. It's very disappointing.

I don't know why I purchased this book. A depressing view of the future is that people are generally nasty to each other for no reason, no one works together to build a better way, and a small number of people have magical gifts. There is a small amount of hope, but it is quickly quashed. Now that I know this is book two in a quartet, I'm assuming that eventually we' ll find out what's going on but I'm not motivated to read the other books.

Will always be my fave in the quartet
Derived From Web , Jan 3, 2021
Gathering Blue was my first entry into the Giver Quartet as an elementary school student, so you don't have to read the book first for this to make sense. After I cracked the book open, I found it still held up. I missed a lot of the story when I was younger. I can see how The Giver might be considered the more inspired work, but I think Gathering Blue is more important to me.
