Gerald the giraffe longs to dance, but his legs are too skinny and his neck is too long. His knees buckle whenever he tries to twirl. At the Jungle Dance, the warthogs waltz, the chimps cha-cha, and the lions tango. Giraffes can't dance, they all jeer when it's Gerald's turn to prance.
Fortunately, there is one little creature who believes in Gerald. Everything makes music, says the cricket, if you really want it to. So Gerald starts swaying to his own sweet tune.
With light-footed rhymes and high-stepping illustrations, this tale is gentle inspiration for every child with dreams of greatness.

There is a reason this book is a top seller!

This book is a top seller because it's adorable. When I was a nanny, I read this book in a toddler book club and now read it to my own children. I have read this book many times and still love it. I haven't found a child who didn't like the book. The story is great and the illustrations are colorful. This book is very good.

I read it to my husband and he liked it. I plan to return two of the books. I had to keep them all. Excellent quality, nice colors, and exciting art work with a great story.

The illustrations are gorgeous, the words are fun, and it has the best message ever! Everybody can dance if they have the right music. It shows that it is okay to have differences.

One of my favorites is a book for kids. My name is 2y.o. And 5y.o. Ask me to read it again and again and I will absolutely love it. Good message, good illustrations and decent quality. We also order this book for kids birthdays and it is much more value than a postcard.

Keeper!

The book is really great. I can see why it's rated so high. It's simple and we will write. It has great pictures as well! It's longer than most boardbooks and has a good little story about Gerald the Giraffe.

Good message but...

It doesn't rhyme very well. It takes too much to get to the rhyme. The art is pretty good. The 9 month old loves animals. The lions were dancing. Maybe he'll like it when he's older.

Disappointed!
Derived From Web , Apr 2, 2020
We love the books Commotion in the Ocean and Rumble in the Jungle. The rave reviews made me think this would be a great book. I didn't want my children to read it when I returned it. The negative reviews are correct. The book teaches about low self esteem. Children learn phrases and words. The author could have toned it down. The ending is not a good one. The giraffe is dancing and winning friends. I don't think it will be clear to a child. This book is so bad for me.

Love books like this

The book teaches a life lesson. This is a book that I love. Everyone can dance, but they need the right song. Fun illustrations and text are both fine. It's good to flip pages for a baby.
