There are just a handful of books for young readers that are based on the natural world. The photos are beautiful, the storyline is full of accurate, interesting, scientific facts about the creatures, and there is a vocabulary building review at the back of the book. Each book in the series has several upside down jokes that reference the animal, an added point of interest for Montessori and all children. I have received 30 of them from Amazon. com, and I have no plans to replace them. Highly recommend.

It was a great Christmas present for my grandson, who loves animals. He is 5 years old and beginning to read on his own. Easy for beginning readers and educational. He also told the interviewer that he's a huge National Geographic fan. I plan to buy a lot more.

This is a good book, My 2 1/2 year old daughter has enjoyed it. The National Geographic book series is very good with lots of great pictures and a few teaching points and scientific facts, he said. I will definitely buy more books by Hachette.
