Book Overview
This Description may be from another edition of this product.
Harville Hendrix has illuminated the paths to healthy, loving relationships in his New York Times bestsellers Getting the Love You Want and Keeping the Love You Find. Now, with his coauthor and wife, Helen Hunt, he brings us to a new understanding of the most profound love of all -- by helping parents nurture their own development as they encourage emotional wholeness in their children.
This groundbreaking book offers a unique opportunity for personal transformation: by resolving issues that originated in our own childhood, we can achieve a conscious, and thus healthier, relationship with our children, regardless of their age. Harville Hendrix and Helen Hunt help us explore: -The Imago -- the fantasy partner that our unconscious mind constructs from those we loved as a child, a that has guided our search for a life partner-Maximizer and Minimizer parents -- the defensive styles that internally shape what we say and how interact with our children
-A Parenting Process that helps to end the cycle of wounding -- the handing-down of wounding we received as children -- as we raise our own children

The received edition is not the same as the listed one
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
The received edition is different from the listed one. Even if the listing had a cover in orange, I chose this item because it had a blue cover. The content is the same. There are some notes and folds on the pages, but they were mentioned in the item's description. My only concern is about the cover.

Must Have

I'm on page 52 of Giving The Love That heals and I can't wait to read it. I plan on going through the book a second time once I complete it because I am reading and highlighting so fast. I need more of this book. It's everything I need as a mother of a young child. I am on page 52 and my life has already changed. I can't wait to finish this book and begin healing and loving in a healing way. I will give this book as a gift to anyone with a less than perfect childhood or a parent who needs it. Please do yourself and your child a favor and heal your wounds, because you hurt other people. If you don't make a conscious decision to start parenting consciously, you will never break the wounding cycle.

Finding answers from your past and moving toward your better future
Derived From Web , Feb 8, 2022
I have learned that parenting is a lot of responsibility. Parents who are broken teach that to their children. Why later on in life? Some of the questions are answered in the book. If you are a parent, this will teach you that your child's behavior can be upsetting, and that you may not have dealt with it before. It was refreshing to read this book. My library is where I keep this. If you don't put your head in the sand, you won't be able to grow and become the person you were meant to be. Ask the hard questions and face the hard stuff. There are examples and stories in this book.

We can use all of the help we can get as a parent. This book was recommended by a Christian counselor, who is a personal friend, and I'm glad we purchased it to help us be better parents.

Becoming whole again.

Excellent book! If you want to raise your offspring as a whole person, I would recommend it to you. It has made me realize my weaknesses and that I am working on overcoming them. It teaches you how to speak with respect to any human being, including an infant or toddler who is just learning to speak.

Save your relationship, buy this now, and read it immediately.

Stop reading reviews. If you are reading reviews about a couple's therapy book, then stop wasting time and buy this. Purchase it, read it and live it. This can help overcome conflict. I recommend the authors workshops if you read it and like it.
