Book Overview

Once upon a time, I thought faeries lived only in books, old folktales, and the past. That was before they burst upon my life as vibrant, luminous beings, permeating my art and my everyday existence, causing glorious havoc.

In the long-awaited sequel to the international bestseller Faeries, artist Brian Froud rescues pixies, gnomes, and other faeries from the isolation of the nursery and the distance of history, bringing them into the present day with vitality and imagination. In this richly imagined new book, Brian reveals the secrets he has learned from the faeries -- what their noses and shoes look like, what mischief and what gentle assistance they can give, what their souls and their dreams are like.

As it turns out, faeries aren't all sweetness and light. In addition to such good faeries as Dream Weavers and Faery Godmothers, Brian introduces us to a host of less well behaved creatures -- traditional bad faeries like Morgana le Fay, but also the Soul Shrinker and the Gloominous Doom. The faery kingdom, we find, is as subject to good and evil as the human realm. Brilliantly documenting both the dark and the light, Good Faeries/Bad Faeries presents a world of enchantment and magic that deeply compels the imagination.

   Perfect!
Ordered this and received it quickly. The book was absolutely beautiful, the book in perfect condition. I would suggest that if you are buying this for children, you understand that many of the Faeries are in the Nude, so if you are a little more conservative on the conservative side, take this into consideration. My family has perused the pages excitedly and started their journey on learning everything from water fay to Faeries named Grig and loving the artwork exceedingly. Mr. Froud's delightful prose to accompany the fanciful and whimsical artwork, allowing us a glimpse into his mind and state as he created this world of faeries for us. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn more about the world of Fae!

   One of Froud's BEST Masterpieces!
I am a huge Froud fan to begin with, but this book is by far my ultimate favorite. It is put together so ingeniously that the writing and imagery leave you with a haunting feeling that is reminiscent of childhood conceit and pure Faery magic. Each time you make a case of the goosebumps, you know what I mean. If you believe in Faeries, then you 'll know what I mean. Good FaeriesBad Faeries is featured in such a wonderful way that you can not help yourself, but you are lost within its unique and imaginative world of wonder.

   A Great Book On Faeries
When I saw this book listed, I knew that I had to order it because I love Faeries and Elfs was very good artwork, and I was also impressed with the writing. For any fellow Faerie fans, it is a great price for a great book. At first it was hard to follow as half the book was Printed with its title Good FaeriesBad Faeries. Grown Month by Month At times the book had me laughing, Brian Frond is IMHO a great artist and writer, I give five stars to Brian and Amazon.

   Great coffee-table book
Fun to shuffle through. Others like information stories. I bought more for studying the sketching techniques. Suitable for either, or both, pursuits.

   Clever organization of book
Brian Froud has another International bestseller with Brian Froud, another masterpiece by David Kelley. I HIGHLY recommend all Froud's books on Faerie Folk. His art work is sneepy and stunning. It was designed to be a collector's item in years to come.

Doesn't have all the original art
I used to have this book when I was young and there were not all the pictures in this book that I remember. There was a fairy especially that my whole family looked forward to because it looked like my little sister, but we couldn t find it here at all and we all loved about 5 times each. ( kind of the whole point I bought and found this book ). Definitely bummed! There is an original print that I am not finding?

   Fun book with wonderful illustrations.
This is a good reference for fantasy illustrating. Here there are many many types of fairies and its fun reading. One side is bad fairies and when flipped over, you can read and see all the good ones. The oversize of this book is greatly appreciated, as many of the illustrations are large.

   Beautiful book, but damaged
I was very happy to receive this book, but I am very sad that it came damaged. Unfortunately, I won 't have the time to return for an exchange, as it is a birthday present. The art is damaged, however, due to the book arriving beautiful, providing a 3 star review.

   Another Great Book!
Faeries received this book because of Faeries! This book is heavier on the illustrations and does not have much content as Faeries, so if you love the art of the original, you will love this book. Not only does this book have illustrations by GoodBad Faeries, but also descriptions of them, which is nice. If you're a fan of Brian Froud, this is another must-have!
