Discover the Transformative Effects of Being Kind to Yourself
This brilliant book offers us both the science and practice of how self-kindness is the secret sauce of fulfillment, transformation, and joy. --Lorin Roche, meditation teacher and author of The Radiance Sutras
Many of us yearn to feel a greater sense of inner calm, ease, joy, and purpose. We have tried meditation and found it too difficult. We judge ourselves for being no good at emptying our minds (as if one ever could) or compare ourselves with yogis who seem to have it all together. We live in a steady state of not good enough. It does not have to be this way.
In Good Morning, I Love You, Dr. Shauna Shapiro brings alive the brain science behind why we feel the way we do--about ourselves, each other, and the world--and explains why we get stuck in thinking that doesn't serve us. It turns out that we are hardwired to be self-critical and negative And this negativity is constantly undermining our experience of life.
It is never too late to rewire your brain for positivity--for calm, clarity, and joy, writes Dr. Shapiro. I know this is possible because I experienced it. Best of all, you can begin wherever you are. In short, lively chapters laced with science, wisdom, and story, Shapiro, one of the leading scientists studying the effects of mindfulness on the Read More chevron_right

Great book

It was suggested to me and I was not exactly sure what to expect from this book. It was such a pleasant surprise, said Blair. If you are looking for ways to have more self compassion in a world full of comparison and unhelpful messages this book is for you. I've enjoyed the way she recapped each chapter, especially since I listened to it on audible. Thanks to the teachers, I was able to take something away from each lesson.

This was a fun, easy read that changed the way I think about the way I think about the world around me, said Blair. It's great to see that everybody should read this book. The book contains a great deal of science, intuitive learning, and Dr. Shapiro's personal experience. I've played the tape several times, and I loved listening to the version while I drove. A great way to start the day, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

Good, but slight, and annoyingly padded.
Derived From Web , Apr 27, 2021
As a connoisseur of self-help books, I enjoyed this one, even though it could have been condensed to a single solid article. I'm writing this review mainly to vent my frustration that this book has 190 pages of spaciously designed content and 40 pages of citations, an index that really feels like the publisher is inflating the book. The remainder of the page is made up of padding.

Don’t read if...

To me, there's the genius of it what do, neuroscience, gang bangers, Tibetan monks, California girls, Army colonels, powerful CEOs, despondent cancer patients, teenagers, grandparents and a red broom all have in common? He also said that despite the government's claims, Ford is "100 percent behind George Bush." Even for a dude that regularly relies on Tom Clancy and Max Tucker for literary entertainment, I found tremendous value, both psychological and practical, in GMILY. Don't read this book, even if you want to learn how to meditate. If you want to know the future, don't read this. But if you want cutting edge science blended with deliciously endearing stories, topped off with real life practices that even an old dog as stubborn as... well, you know... then get your order on for less than the price of a Vegas cocktail.
