Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Kids love yoga--and it's great for them, so much so that the President's Council has added the practice to the fitness activities in the annual President's Challenge. For parents and caregivers looking for a fun and effective new routine for bedtime, innovative educator Mariam Gates presents Good Night Yoga, a playful yet wholly practical book for preparing for sleep.

This beautifully illustrated, full-color book tells the story of the natural world as it closes down for the night, while teaching children a simple flow of yoga postures inspired by their favorite characters from nature. Moving from Sun Breath to Cloud Gathering to Ladybug & Butterfly and more, readers learn techniques for self-soothing, relaxing the body and mind, focusing attention, and other skills that will support restful sleep and improve overall confidence and well-being.

   My toddler love this book!
This is such a cute book, Bernadette. My 3.5 year-old loves it, and she looks forward to getting out of the house and doing yoga with me every night before bed. The story and the poses help to settle her down for the night and she goes to bed without complaining, she said. I just ordered Good Morning Yoga so we can start our days as calmly and peacefully as we end them, said Blair.

   A great book for toddlers
A fabulous book. My 5 and 3 year olds enjoyed following the pictures and making up stories to go along with them. Then they began making new names for similar poses. Only in the binding would I improve it. Because the book needs to be laid flat while an adult does poses with the kids, ring binding would have been preferable. He said Blair had to keep the book "open with something heavy."

   Awkward story flow
The book is okay, but the poses are described separately from the story. The first time I read it, it was a little confusing.

   Don't get the kindle version!!
Because the whole point of the book is to do yoga poses as you read them with your child, it's really inconvenient to have the illustration of the pose you're reading about not visible.

   Cute yoga book for children
It was a birthday present from my 5yr granddaughter. She was delighted to be back home, had to go through the book and do each yoga pose before opening her other gifts. What a cute little monkey! Ashtanga yoga has taken over the world. This book is by far the best. The illustrations are adorable, and I'd recommend the book to anyone.

   great book
It was a present from my husband that I bought for my daughter for Christmas. He loves doing yoga with me and I thought it would be a great addition to our bedtime routine, she said. Even if it was an older child, I think they would have no problem doing it. The whole thing is a cute and simple story, Raymond said. I hope that my son continues to love this book through his childhood.

Moon, Saturn, symbols... Portals to other realms.
The book is riddled with evil Illuminati mind control symbols, including the moon and Saturn. The book was originally published by Random House in 1996, but the publisher didn't realise that the souks had been sold. It's just horrible, horrible. Before you scoff at these claims, do some inline research. Pictures, symbols and sounds are the first language. I will not be exposing our little one to this, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

   Good book for yoga newcomers
Very nice book, with beautiful pictures and great margins of error, Simon said. My twin girls were engaged throughout the entire book. It's great to hear from Dr. Goin.

   Wonderful bedtime story.
It's great to get some alone time, said Blair. He said the children will continue to learn the trade.

   A great bedtime/relaxing read.
We read this quiet often as we sleep, even though we don't hear voices. It helps him fall asleep at night.
