Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. Goodnight room, goodnight moon. And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room--to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one--he says goodnight.

In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.

Generations of children have begged to hear this story before bed. Now children can add a new element to their bedtime routine by flipping the tape and listening to the original Goodnight Moon lullaby on the reverse side.In a new, beautifully designed reusable pouch, this wonderful recording of the classic bedtime story and the special bonus of the soothing, original lullaby composed especially for this recording is just right for sleepyheads.

Rhythm and Rhyme at Night Thyme
The rhyme and rhythm for the rhythm of sleep is provided in a fifteen page book of progressive learning for a toddler. A new feature and a new word are introduced on each page. The child can identify the object in the room by looking at the third page in color. A rabbit is trying to sleep before it does. This is very short and much beyond the age of a five year old, but it is perfect as words are being learned for the first time at 2 and 3. It is going to my great nephew. I wrote Barney Swallows a Whiny Kid and is Shot Dead for a demonic child thirty years ago, but it is still not published. David, dreams are pleasant. Also recommended was Uncle Moon in my room.

   A Must-Have Baby Book
Whether you're putting together a library for your child, or giving a gift for a friend, this book is a must. There has never been a truer friend to a parent than that of a restless child. Everything about it is familiar. A sleepy child looks around and takes in the comforting details of the home. The simplicity of Brown's writing disguises the difficulty of actually writing something that is good with so little words. Your child will want it all the time, and you won't mind complying.

A grandmother's gift to her first granddaughter
When my daughter was born in 1975 in CA, I made up stories for her and this book wasn't in our personal library. Whatever I did, it must have been productive for her because she was reading at three. She was a teenager when I first saw this and didn't like childish things. When she and my son-in-law gave birth to their first child in March of this year, I knew it would be a part of her life. On the day it arrived, my daughter called to ask who fell asleep after reading a book. The sound of her mother's voice woke her up at one month, but as the months go by, she will be able to read the history of Pat the Bunny by memory. A beautiful story.

   MUST HAVE !!!
Every child needs this book. I read this book to my kids when they were small and then as they grew up, I read it to them as well. I have to buy it for my new great-nieces and great-nephews so they can experience the same joy that I did when I saw it. Don't forget to get Owen by Kevin Henkes, Mrs. Toggle's Zipper, Love You Forever, and No Matter What by Robert Munsch. I will buy these books again for my kids when they're older.

my kids loved this book as toddlers
It was bought for parents to be. I never cared for this book, but my kids loved it so they must be something to it. It's become another classic that every child has in their personal library.

   This is not for adults
The can becomes like the little bunny in the room for children. They can be easily transported to this green room, which is warm and snug. We have forgotten how to find safe haven in simple things, even though we read the words aloud. Sometimes I would like to sit with the fire and the two kittens and the big moon and just be at peace.

   Wonderful
I read it to myself because I was not a child when it was written. The artwork is fun and detailed, and it has a relaxing story before bed. Very calm. I live near a railroad station and a large interstate, but I don't hear goodnight noises, as I have a moon.

   A Classic
This classic child's book comes in a hardback, which is good news for grandmothers-to-be. I hope my first great-grandchild will enjoy my nightly reading. I will buy a board for her to read and hunt on her own when she is old enough to hold her own book. I can't wait for her to arrive so I can read it to her.

   Meh.
I remember my mother reading a book to me. The book arrived a week late, but I was excited to get it for my child. There were missing pages, torn pages, strange brown stains, and crayon all over some of the pages. I did buy used, but I didn't buy a brand-new one. It is laughable to call this good.
