A fresh, fun, and thought-provoking New York Times bestseller about the American electoral college and why every vote counts from bestselling and award-winning duo Kelly DiPucchio and LeUyen Pham.

Where are the girls?

When Grace's teacher reveals that the United States has never had a female president, Grace decides she wants to be the nation's first and immediately jumpstarts her political career by running in her school's mock election The race is tougher than she expected: her popular opponent declares that he's the best man for the job and seems to have captured the votes of all of the class's boys. But Grace is more determined than ever. Even if she can't be the best man for the job, she can certainly try to be the best person

This timely story not only gives readers a fun introduction to the American electoral system but also teaches the value of hard work, courage, independent thought -- and offers an inspiring example of how to choose our leaders.

Really wonderful and timely concept with excellent illustrations
Definitely a wonderful and timely concept with excellent illustrations. However, the content related to the electoral vote is difficult to understand for younger children.
   kid loved it
Highly recommended!
   Great message, great timing!
Its message is appropriate for the 2008 Democratic nomination, as Grace is an African-American AND a female.
   Great for teaching electoral college
The perfect book to supplement my teaching of electoral college. The 8th graders loved it and wanted me to read it again and again!

Excellent illustrations show the wonderful concept. Younger children don't understand the content of the electoral vote.
A great story, a great message, and a great illustration were written. I love when books inspire my daughters and they thought this was a fun read.
Great story, great message, great illustration and written wonderfully.
During my government unit, I used this book in my classroom. My kids liked the storyline and it supported my objectives. I would recommend it as a read aloud for 3 rd grade.
During my government unit, I used this book in my classroom. My children loved it the storyline and supported the overall objective of my unit. I would definitely recommend it as a read aloud for the 3rd grade.
   Great book!
This is one of the books we like the most. My three year old got it. The issues of gender, race and democracy are dealt with in a way that is easy to understand and poignant in the story. Explains the concept of electoral college better than any other book I have ever read for adults. Highly recommended. One of my friends said she cried when she read it to her neice. I would agree. It is suitable for 3-7 year olds.
