Similar but not the same as Kumon class workbook
About 85 pages of practice materials, ranging from super easy to add stuff to reviewing 1-10. Example : You get 4 pages of 3's added to a number. Similar, but not the same workbook, which you get from Kumon classes, which has more repetition and more practice questions.
   Exactly what I wanted
My child is already doing well in school in Grade One, but I wanted to give her a little bit of help and a bit of a boost. I bought other addition books, but went straight to column addition. This is included in the Grade 2 and 3 Kumon books, while this was perfect for my child's first grade as a straight forward introduction to addition. We got a few pages each night and she has done the hang of it completely. In fact, once she finishes this book, I will move her to Grade 2 even if she is still in Grade One, as she loves it. What is great about this book is that it gradually gets harder, so that it doesn 't scare here. It seemed to flow through without any sudden jumps. I am now purchasing the Grade Three multiplication book for my son and will review it when it arrives.
The first 14 lessons are focused on number writing not addition at all. The first grade is about learning your math facts. This was 3 unused lessons more. Then we move on to 2 plus all the way to 39 more unused lessons, then the process continues all the way to 9. I used less than half the book, what a waste of money. I have used all Kumon books and liked them until this book. My advice, if you want to practice relevant math facts, will actually be useful to skip this book and save your money.
   Great pattern forming foundation!
Teaching algebra II, algebra, prealgebra and multiple levels of elementary math. They make math fun, simple and easy. Will always buy to support the early math learners so that the older ones have the basics in place.
   Excellent teaching tools
I used these Kumon worksheets with good success with my children. They are fabulous for helping a fast learner to keep moving forward in mastering math skills and practicing them so that they become an expert in applying knowledge. I also used them with my learning disabled child to help him review skills and refresh his memory.
I love the Kumon workbooks and so does my kid
I have used the Kumon books to supplement my normal school curriculum, and they are wonderful! What they teach is great, how they teach it is great, and best of all, my kid loves to work on them and she does sit on her own! I gathered this one and a few others for summer to prepare the kiddo for the 1st grade next year. These workbooks are highly recommended!
This is not what I expected. The first 14 lessons are just tracing and filling in the blanks, too easy for kindergarteners, not worth the price.
   Summer math practice
This is for my kid to practice in the summer. Good repetitive practice, but all equations are written in the left to right direction, I wish they had some equationsquestions running straight, so it would be easier to teach him when it is beyond 1-10.
   Great for the intended age
This book is pretty great for what it is. My son is 3 and hyperlexic, and he is already doing addition and subtraction. I wanted to give him something to promote his love of math and numbers. Except for two things, this would have been perfect : 1) Numbered math problems. Seeing a number before the math problem made it seem to be part of the math problem. This could be a problem for beginners. I understand that this book is for older children. My son does not have the same motor skills as a six-year-old, and writing the answers in such a small space was difficult.
Am using these workbooks with my Kindergarten twins. They're ...
Am using these workbooks with my elementary twins. They're able to read the directions any comprehends 90% of them, but some are not clear and would benefit from simplification. Bottom line : I would buy it again and find it worthwhile. From the simplification, simplification would benefit. The material isn 't very difficult, but helps keep their skills sharp. Bottom line : I'd repurchase it and find it worthwhile.
