Trying to be the new Strunk and White?
Professor Weinstein, you're not. The chapter quotes are very appealing to this amateur grammarian's soul, but the recommendations are mostly funny and slightly off-topic. The Rev. Paul Byrd, writing in the book, "Get Noticed: Use a colon to great effect." Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech was hailed by some as a "remarkable" colon. NBC also aired a parody of "The Office" in which employees complain about being "left out." Yes, I hoard good books on writing, grammar and linguistics, but this one will go to Goodwill.

   Loved this Book
I don't know how I found this book, but it sure looked like me. It was short, pleasurable to read, well thought-through, encouraging us to think more carefully about the words we use and how we put them together. Grammar can help students succeed or defeat, hope or hopelessness. I have been blessed by reading it and recommend it to anyone.

This is not just a grammar.
He also offers readers a book of sorts, along with the necessary tools, that will help them choose the words and construction of sentences with intention. A passionate Hollywood producer who has worked with Hepburn and De Niro, Weinstein writes with warmth and charm. I can't recommend it highly enough."

   loved it
I like how it gives the why of grammar, not just the how, Raymond said. It's an easy read, and it's also very entertaining. It was a great read, and I ordered copies for my kids.

   Whimsical and Thought-Provoking
As a writer, coach, and instructor, I am most drawn to Lawrence's line, "If you care about fostering a sense of community between us, don't just write to me." I am glad to have Grammar for a Full Life on my bookshelf, and as a resource to my students.
