   Simply Beautiful Book
It is a wonder that such a simple book could be so moving. Short, easy to read text paired with beautifully simple illustrations tell the story of Mr Say's grandfather, who split his life between Japan and the United States, longing for both. This book would be cherished perhaps especially by those who know what it means to miss home. This book could be linked with a touch of history into many different educational units... American immigration, WWII or perhaps inspire an interest in personal family history. I am proud to have added this beautiful book to our family library.

   Fantastic artwork and story line
It also touches historical events that open a dialog with your child about history. I am so excited that this book came with a CD. I can 't wait to give it to my niece for her birthday.

   Outstanding Story for Children and Adults
This book resonates for anyone who has lived in more than one country and has a part of their heart in each place. And it does so beautifully. It is a children's book but like no other book encapsulates the experience of the person who has grown to love more than one country. I bought several copies because I keep giving mine away as gifts to adults who I know will find it moving because they've experienced something similar. This book is loved.

   Grandfather's Journey is exquisite!
My grandfather's journey was my introduction to Allen Say, one of my very favorite authors and illustrators. This wonderful book, written and beautifully painted, is a masterpiece and a magnificent tribute to Allen's grandfather and ancestors. That anyone would rate that, but a 5 prompted me to write this review. As a school teacher on a very limited budget, I buy only hardcover books that I consider exquisite. After reading and re-reading it, this was a definite MUST have. As a family member, it gives me ideas about how to write my family history. As a teacher, it provides the perfect example for my students of how they could also capture the heritage of their family. If it was possible, it is definitely a 5!

   I loved this book
I loved this book ''. It has touched me so deeply because it reminds me of my father. The Grandfather wears glasses that are similar to the ones my father wore. The book helps younger children empathize with their parents and older children, say those around 40 to empathize with their parents. I have been meaning to buy this for years, and no only 3 copies are available!

   Loved it in Kindergarten
I went to a K-3rd grade magnet school and this was the focus of one of our literary classes when I was in kindergarten in 1993-1994. I have absolutely loved this book. Our teacher was dressed in a Kimono and read the story like he was actually from Japan, it was amazing. The fact that I still remember it today made me decide that I would use it in my 1st grade class at the magnet school I teach now. Excellent book, excellent service.

This book gives the reader the opportunity to reflect on how easy it is for immigrants to move to another country. Say really highlights how immigrants often struggle to fit in, but come to love their new home first.

What a beautiful book! The illustrations are wonderful and the story itself is amazing. It did a tear to my eye when I remembered my nonno.
