Excellent book for one experiencing profound grief.

This has been one of the most helpful books I have read while dealing with the recent loss of my beloved husband, with whom I have been married for nearly 49 years. It is spiritual, practical and sensitive. I have attempted to put the principles into practice in my daily life, and believe that it helps me deal with the overwhelming grief. One aspect that was particularly helpful was the chapter on dealing with insensitive comforters. The authors make the point that people mean well, but are inexperienced in comforting, and most have never been in a particular situation. It is up to those of us who are grieving to let them know what is helpful and what is not. This is the most difficult situation in my life, but it does help to read other experiences and how they deal with them.

A MUST READ FOR THOSE GRIEVING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE!
Derived From Web , May 20, 2022
After the death of my 15-year-old daughter Elizabeth on February 19, 2010 and my mom on May 13, 2010, I joined a small group GriefShare, facilitated by others who had also suffered the loss of a loved one. I really enjoyed my time with the group and went through it with my father for a second time. I was glad when GriefShare came with this short, concise book entitled Grieving With Hope, which covers the basic material we discussed in our small groups. Even for a mature Christian, grief can be overwhelming, but as this book shows so clearly, we can navigate our way through grief with God's help. I can not recommend GriefShare or mourning with hope strongly enough, and in fact, I give away extra copies of this book to people who are grieving. Both GriefShare and Grieving With Hope are invaluable resources to help you navigate through grief on your journey.

Useful book, well written

I just lost a close friend '' and this book has been beneficial to me. It is inclusive and there are spiritually based scriptures. If you have difficulty with your emotions after such a loss, deal with this book. I found this online through a group called GriefShare and they also offer daily emails to help you get through the days ahead. It is a very good program.

Not for most readers

I think the book was written by the author, not the author. Someone can maybe relate to her? I read many books on grief, this one I couldn t finish. If someone sells it, I hope it ministers to them.

Gives hope and healing

After joining a grief share group, I found this book and have given copies to several people who have helped them find a resource they can lean on during times of loss. There are probably better books out there, but I haven 't found them.

I have ordered this book for a very dear friend. A year ago, my husband passed away and I was able to attend a GriefShare support group through my church. My friend really appreciated this book. I have also ordered one for myself. I would highly recommend anything that supports GriefShare.

Paperback book "GRIEVING WITH HOPE: (Samuel J IV Hodges) Findng Comfort as you ...mourn, grief.
Derived From Web , May 16, 2018
After the passing of a loved one, HOSPICE recommended GriefShare. This is a 13 week session that helps the loss of a loved one. The book is a companion to the 13 week GriefShare series, which is hosted in many churches and senior centers. After reading the book, it was passed to a friend who had recently lost a loved one. Each chapter explains how there is hope during times of sorrow, grief and emotional turmoil. It provides guidance, help, and step by step information about what happens to us after a loved one has died. What can I say that it kept me sane!

One Of The Best I Have Read
Derived From Web , May 23, 2017
More complete and directed to my situation, more. My only suggestion is to not accept it too soon after your loss and you may not be prepared to read the direction it takes you. Information within is all good and all helpful information.

Truly a comfort in the journey of grief
Derived From Web , May 11, 2017
This year we lost our 23 year old daughter and my husband told me that he wanted me to get all the faith-based grief books I could get my hands on. Out of the 10 books, this is his favorite, so he encouraged me to read it. I read it today and see that it is truly a gem for grieving hearts. I also ordered one for my friend, who lost her daughter and a few more to keep on hand to give them to anyone else I may encounter in their grief journey, who needs comfort.
