Book Overview

Everyone's favorite New York Times bestselling Grumpy Monkey is back in this hilarious sequel about managing social anxiety and listening to your needs

Have you ever been a little anxious about going to a party? Jim Panzee feels that. Porcupine is having a big party, and according to Jim's best friend Norman, there will be--gulp--dancing. Jim can DEFINITELY not dance. When he tells his friends, they all try to teach him cool moves--surely that's the only reason Jim isn't excited about this party

Now, their job complete, the other animals sweep Jim along, all the way to the dance floor. Jim is dipped, swayed, and twirled until he can't take it anymore--he just doesn't like to dance When he lets everyone know, he's met with disbelief.until Water Buffalo reveals that he doesn't much care to dance, either. As more and more animals have the courage speak their truths, does this mean there's no place for them at this party?

In this hilarious sequel to GRUMPY MONKEY, kids will learn that it's okay not to go with the flow if they're uncomfortable, and that speaking up about what they need can help others speak up, too--and maybe they need the same thing

Good book but not as good as the original
The first book had my daughter's favorite part. When we get to the red page in the original book, she loves it. It was in the Christmas book, but not here or the Up All Night book. It's a cute book, but it doesn't hold my daughter's attention as well as the original book.
   Nowhere close to the original
We loved the original Grumpy Monkey, but this new one feels like someone was pushing the authors to get another book ready for the printer and grab sweet sweet money while the irons are hot. Poor quality drawings, inferior storyline, and inferior format. I like to read the original to my daughter because the drawings are fun and the underlying message of sometimes it's ok to not be ok is very important. GM Party Time's main message is that dancing at parties is dumb. Not even close.
Great buck buy this book for your child my four-year-old loves it
I want to be able to purchase more of the books for my four-year-old daughter because they are so well written, Great Buck and the grumpy monkey books. Great artwork and storyline.
Not as good as the first Grumpy Monkey
The author could have used a different bird. I don't want my grandson to go to school and talk about an Oxpecker because it might be misinterpreted.
   We Love Jim
I don't find books that are challenging enough for my little guy. Quality books for him are what I want for him. He loves this series. If you are looking for a book with positive messages and beautiful pictures, this is the one for you.
A Great Book for Future Wallflowers!
The Grumpy Monkey series focuses on individuality. In the first book, it was said that it's okay to feel different than other people even if you're grumpy. The book deals with dance parties. This really spoke to me as a person that never felt comfortable at dance parties. It's okay to not like dancing, especially if there are snacks around, and I think that's a great lesson to teach for shy and introverted souls. The artwork and writing are great. Highly recommended for future wallflowers!
   great message
One of our favorites is the picture book, Grumpy Monkey. The party was for the grumpy monkeys. It didn't live up to its predecessor. It's still cute, but there's something missing that I can't put my finger on. I like the message that it's okay to be different and that you can help others who are struggling by being your true self.
error: "not support on this device".
I can't get this to work on my iPad. I'm getting an error on my device. It is so frustrating that this title does not work on the iPad. It's!
The same characters from Grumpy Monkey—minus the charm and the cleverness from the original
We've been waiting for the sequel to the book since it was announced. It was disappointing. There is a subtle repetition to the beginning of the book that works well with children, but it was nearly wiped away. It's hard to believe that these were final versions of Jim and Norman, the illustrations were rushed. The overarching message of Grumpy Monkey was more powerful than the one presented here, even though Party Time seems to echo that message. Stick to the book, which is a great and very fun book.
