   Nice introduction
I'm really excited about the book, Rosa said. The exercises are clear and well-placed, he said. Each builds on the other, using the same basic principles. As you memorize each tune, it becomes less of an issue. I had purchased a physical copy of the book, but it was lost. The physical copy does not include a CD.    One of the finest ukulele tutorials in the market
I have no rhythm, no note, and I'm tone deaf. This is one of two books I constantly fall back on to refresh my most fundamental skills, to remind myself the differences between minor and major scales, to guide my clumsy fingers as I strum chords, pluck melodies or just play around with different combinations of sounds. I cannot count the number of times I replace a book by mistake, or my current copy gets lost.

I use this book with my U.S. students. It's a good mix of learning to read music, play melody and chords, and learn to tie bow ties, too.

It goes over all the basics of note-reading, chords-playing, and even teaches you how to sheet music and tablature. From children's melodies to folk, bluegrass and even some classical music, the book will appeal to all ages.

   It wasn't what I was looking for.
I'd like to see a book that had more of a folk song feel to it. I already knew how to play the ukulele and just wanted some songs, he said. The songs are too modern for me.

   Confusing lessons
It's supposed to be for beginners, and one of the first strum patterns is very difficult and has to be counted as 16th note. I have spoken with two ukulele instructors and a number of players and none of them recommend trying this pattern. After introducing this pattern, the author goes back to a very simple strum pattern. We both became frustrated with the lessons and have since switched to other instruction books.

   Great learner with great information and useful music theory
If you're just starting out or already familiar with playing the uke, this is a useful book. It doesn't just show how to play a chord, but also how to play single notes, different types of strum patterns, and some useful music theory. I also like that you can log on and hear some of the other sections, Reichert said. Highly recommend.
