Beautiful, but not what I was looking for
Derived From Web , Aug 25, 2020
First of all, the book is generously illustrated and beautifully sized. I liked that a lot ''. But I was not a fan of the structure of contents at all. If you're looking for a beginner's guide that takes you step by step through lettering technique, this book is not it. The practice pages are blank, so that may be great for someone with a little more confidence or skill in lettering technique, but not great for someone who is just starting out. The very first lesson is to write this word basically! I felt like this book focused more on how to doodle than hand letter, which is why I bought it in the first place.

Not for beginners.

For two reasons, I didn 't love this book. Step one was to write in cursive language , and for me this skipped a lot of steps. I really wanted to learn a bit more about the shapes of the letters and strokes before jumping right in. No traceing. And actually, the directions are not on the page where you actually write, so that you have to flip between the two and back again. This was a pretty big pain. I don 't feel as I had much of a chance to learn here.

This book taught me a lot! And you can use different media because the paper is thinnish! I learned not just calligraphy, there were lots of little doodles that are very useful for my bullet journal!

Everything I expected and wanted

I received this product as a gift and have used it to improve my hand lettering for our chalkboard family. The only improvement I could possibly suggest would be to include more practice space, but it is not really necessary unless you make mistakes. I will probably purchase this as a gift for others as well.

Great book for a beginner like me
Derived From Web , Aug 1, 2017
I have enjoyed trying to make some hand letter designs and decided to make it my summer hobby. It teaches you a technique and you can spend as much time practicing as you want before creating your final piece at the end of the tutorial. There is only one practice page for each tutorial, which is fine by me because I did not want to buy a book with a ton of blank pages... I can use a notebook to practice. I like the final piece page because it is almost like a test for myself before moving to the next tutorial. At the end, it even has a tutorial on how to digitize your work. As a beginner, this is exactly what I was hoping to find.

BEAUTIFUL book
Derived From Web , Jul 30, 2017
This book was absolutely worth the money! I found that hand lettering is really a relaxing hobby and while I originally planned to use it for my bullet journaling, I can see myself learning Amy's techniques in a variety of different situations. Now I'm going back to take it a little more slowly, and I know that it won 't be the last time I do so. Unlike a lot of lettering books there aren't a ton of blank pages-I know it's annoying to get a book and realize it is mostly scratch paper. You'll get a nice walkthrough for each lesson, consisting of a few pages each, and then a page afterward to practice on. I feel too wrong to write in my book, so I use an extra notebook just ''. I recommend this book so strongly and I can 't stop bragging about it. In the least, you won 't be disappointed.
