Great book to teach "good hands"
My brother taught. He likes to say things in the positive for children. Teaching kids what to do is more important than what not to do. My son is told to keep good hands when he hits, pushes, or snatches. As part of defining that phrase for my son, we like to give him examples of good things you can do with your hands, like a handshake or a hug. There are many new examples and pictures to go with it. My son loves story time so any message in a book tends to stick. He starts talking about good hands from the book when I tell him to keep good hands. He will wave or high five me and say, "Look, Mom!" I'm doing well with my hands. I heaped praise on him. The hitting has decreased.

If your child hits this book is perfect
The book was very young for my second graders. It is a good time to start reading to your child. I wish I started sooner.

A great book to help with behavior
Our daughter has Down Syndrome and I like the books about it. The book gives clear examples of what hands can do. She has been helped with her behavior by it being on a level that is not complicated.

   Clear message
The book teaches your child not to be aggressive. Great images and clear message. My 2 year old loves it.

   Love it
I love this series of books. It is easy for a child educator to apply a concept to real life situations.

Cute and practical way to teach a life lesson to the little one in your life!
I got this for my son when he was two years old. He was not speaking yet but he loved to hit. There are other kids, mom and dad. I wanted it to help him learn how to use his hands. I can happily report that it did! The book shows you how to say hi, get dressed and wave hello. There is a section for parents and caregivers at the very end to help with child's frustration. I read this book to my son so he could learn how to use his hands correctly. This book and the series are definitely recommended.

Great book when kids need a little help
I like the series. Several have provided us with extra help for little guys.

OK but "Teeth Are Not For Biting" remains the strongest entry in the series
The reviews find the board book presentation acceptable, but there are differences from the superior entry Teeth Are Not For Biting. The failure of the book to hook into the behavior drivers makes it feel like it's just a book that tells you what to do. I'm not sure if it will have the same impact as other books in the series, but it is a good book.

   Are my expectations too high??
I expected more than one word per page and less repetitive language. I was expecting more of that. It is possible for hands to help and heal, and for hands to let you cook a meal.

Hands are not for hitting board book
My 15 month old loves the book. It is larger than most board books. She doesn't quite understand it yet, but will soon. Highly recommended.
