Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

This special edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has a gorgeous new cover illustration by Kazu Kibuishi. Inside is the full text of the original novel, with decorations by Mary GrandPre.
Harry Potter has never been the star of a Quidditch team, scoring points while riding a broom far above the ground. He knows no spells, has never helped to hatch a dragon, and has never worn a cloak of invisibility.
All he knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley -- a great big swollen spoiled bully. Harry's room is a tiny closet at the foot of the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in eleven years.
But all that is about to change when a mysterious letter arrives by owl messenger: a letter with an invitation to an incredible place that Harry -- and anyone who reads about him -- will find unforgettable.
For it's there that he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic in everything from classes to meals, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him. if Harry can survive the encounter.

   Great book
I love the way JK Rowling writes. The story is full of magic. I am drawn to the characters. I love a book where I can read it many times and not get tired of it. This is one of those series. Such a great book.

One of the best novels read in a long time
I think that J K Rowling knows how to make her readers want to read her book. The characters are believable, the story is good, and the erised chapter is one of the best in the series. It's a great book, but we get to see how the series began, and we also get to see important elements coming back in the last chapters of the series. A great start for a writer.

Rowling has a terrific sense of humor
The C.S. is what this series is in. The books by Lewis. Both places young children from the ordinary world into a magical one and transports us to a place where reality is slightly bent. From the ins and outs of the wizarding world to the Every Flavor Beans, there's a lot of detail in the work of Harry Potter. A wonderful story. I wish these books were around when I was a kid. They're great for everyone.

   Much worse condition than advertised
I had no expectation that this book would be in perfect condition when I purchased it. The book was advertised as good condition and intact. The book was in good condition. There may be limited notesmarks and highlighting present. May show signs of shelf wear and bends. The cover of the book was in good condition, but the interior pages were in poor shape. It looks like someone took an x-acto knife and randomly sliced through the entire book in different directions. The first few chapters are difficult to read. It's hard to turn the pages without them falling apart. The book's condition gets better the further you go through it. I wouldn't have bought the book if it was more accurate in its condition.

The first book in the harry potter series
If you are going to start the harry potter series - what better place to start than the first book in the series? I love the harry potter series and the Sorcerer's stone is the one that starts it all. Not my favorite in the series - but a great start to a great series.

Number 1 in my book collection!
This book is the number one in my collection. The book was very funny and very tense. He played quidditch in one of my favorite parts. Every second it was told. I was not a big fan of Harry Potter until I started reading the first book. This is a really good book to read. Even if you watched the first movie, it is still a ride of magic and suspense.
