A master of science fiction introduces a world where everything is large and the problems of survival even larger in this exciting new novel.
Hella is a planet where everything is oversized--especially the ambitions of the colonists. The trees are mile-high, the dinosaur herds are huge, and the weather is extreme--so extreme, the colonists have to migrate twice a year to escape the blistering heat of summer and the atmosphere-freezing cold of winter. Kyle is a neuro-atypical young man, emotionally challenged, but with an implant that gives him real-time access to the colony's computer network, making him a very misunderstood savant. When an overburdened starship arrives, he becomes the link between the established colonists and the refugees from a ravaged Earth. The Hella colony is barely self-sufficient. Can it stand the strain of a thousand new arrivals, bringing with them the same kinds of problems they thought they were fleeing? Despite the dangers to himself and his family, Kyle is in the middle of everything--in possession of the most dangerous secret of all. Will he be caught in a growing political conspiracy? Will his reawakened emotions overwhelm his rationality? Or will he be able to use his unique ability to prevent disaster?Hella is 336 pages long.
different yet a great read

I've read many good books, but this one really made me think in a very different way. It's a good read, even if you're not a fan of Dr. Goin's work.

Pointless rambling

The other guy drinks a lot and wanders around. There is no big social message here, but a bunch of stereotypes.

Blew my mind

It was the raw humanity expressed in this book that really did it for me, Sebastian said. It's one I'll keep thinking back to for years to come. Great customer service, said Dr. Anthony Citrano, vice president of engineering for the Mohegan Tribe.

Hell of a Book

The book is described as a "catalogue of startling and disturbing images of the world's most sacred texts." In fact, I would recommend that every child in the US read this book.

Exactly As Advertised
Derived From Web , Oct 12, 2021
Brand new to the market, this book is exactly what I was looking for. There are some purists who argue that Jane Austen's "Emma" was one hell of a book. The book is a great story about a writer who has a difficult time separating reality from his imagination. He added that the criticism of the U.S. Civil Rights movement is "an important comment on society and BLM."

Hyperbole at its finest
Derived From Web , Aug 26, 2021
The book was a good idea, but the execution was wrong. Even with time, I was not able to fully understand who was real or imaginary from the authors' point of view. In the end, I managed to figure out the purpose of the book but it was a strange way to tell such a serious topic.

Powerful, Sad and Thought Provoking
Derived From Web , Jul 16, 2021
Nobody knows the hell of a weight those of us born with ebony skin must carry. He uses humor to paint a portrait of a beautiful, intelligent dark skinned African American man who gradually unravels under the weight of systemic racism and the self-hate that manifests as lighter blacks who don't grow up. He gives a voice to what it's like for parents to love their babies to prepare them for a world where the world will treat them unfairly. A very well written and well-illustrated book.

There are some books you can't stop thinking about long after you've read them. This is one of those books that stays with you. I had a hard time putting it down to do regular life things, like eat and go to work, he said.
