In the dramatic conclusion to the New York Times best seller Her Mother's Hope, Francine Rivers delivers a rich and deeply moving story about the silent sorrows that can tear a family apart and the grace and forgiveness that can heal even the deepest wounds.

Growing up isn't easy for little Carolyn Arundel. With her mother, Hildemara, quarantined to her room with tuberculosis, Carolyn forms a special bond with her oma Marta, who moves in to care for the household. But as tensions between Hildie and Marta escalate, Carolyn believes she is to blame. When Hildie returns to work and Marta leaves, Carolyn and her brother grow up as latchkey kids in a world gripped by the fear of the Cold War.

College offers Carolyn the chance to find herself, but a family tragedy shatters her newfound independence. Rather than return home, she cuts all ties and disappears into the heady counterculture of San Francisco. When she reemerges two years later, more lost than ever, she reluctantly turns to her family to help rebuild a life for her and her own daughter, May Flower Dawn.

Just like Carolyn, May Flower Dawn develops a closer bond with her grandmother, Hildie, than with her mother, causing yet another rift between generations. But as Dawn struggles to avoid the mistakes of Read More chevron_right

Not for the faint of heart
This is part two of Marta's Legacy book and I must say in particular that I was a little disappointed with a part in particular. Spoiler Alert : I know that molestation is part of life and I don 't fault Rivers for including it in the book, I struggled with reading it though. I was very moved by it and although this is a fiction book, my heart hurts for those little girls who have and continue to suffer this way. And many times, the parents never even know. After passing through this section, the book takes off in typical fashion of the rivers. I wanted to sit all three women down and have them look at each other and TALK. Come on, women, we are good at talking, how come we get into these situations where our relationships are torn away in pieces and could easily be repaired if we would just talk to one another, honesyly. Great book about mother-in-law relationships.
   Amazing Story
Francine Rivers is one of my favorite authors of all time. This book did not disappoint and in fact inspired me and held me transfixed until the last page. I went on to the sequel and was really enriched by the inspirational healing of broken relationships in the family of this story. This story shows what God can do and what we can all hope and pray for in our own families. That God would help us reverse the mistakes we or our ancestors have made, or misunderstandings, unintended or not. I recommend this reading, but especially if you are praying in your own family for broken relationships. It is a message of forgiveness and it will inspire.
   Life Changing
This is one of those books that you think about, did she follow my family or what? This put life for me into a readable form and I shared it with many, many others. It gave voice to what I have always wondered could have been the reason for some family problems. This book changed my life in a profound way, along with A Mothers Hope ''. At the end, I kept thinking that Francine Rivers had to have experienced this to understand the depth of what she had written.
   Her Daughter's Dream
Since I lived through the era of the last 2 generations of this book, I found it gripping and convicting.
great biographical story of Francines Rivers family line
I did not realize this was biographical until I read the end and read the prologue... I always enjoy her books, I could not put this one down, and now I can not wait for Book #2 in this series.

   love francine rivers!
She is amazing, and proves it in her books over and over again. I love the fact that they go through four generations of women.
   family history
It was one of the best books I have read in that time. I fell like one of the family and didn 't want it to end. Marianne is a former model and Marianne has been released.

I love Francine Rivers descriptive writing manner
I love Francine Rivers descriptive writing style and this is one of the books I had on my bucket list to buy - the slightly used price was fantastic and the book arrived in great condition, which led me to buy even more books through the many slightly used options available.
