Book Overview

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELER - 80 recipes inspired by the magical world of Dungeons & Dragons

Ready a tall tankard of mead and brace yourself for a culinary journey to match any quest --Tom Morello, Rage Against the Machine

From the D&D experts behind Dungeons & Dragons Art & Arcana comes a cookbook that invites fantasy lovers to celebrate the unique culinary creations and traditions of their favorite fictional cultures. With this book, you can prepare dishes delicate enough to dine like elves and their drow cousins or hearty enough to feast like a dwarven clan or an orcish horde. All eighty dishes--developed by a professional chef--are delicious, easy to prepare, and composed of wholesome ingredients readily found in our world.

Heroes' Feast
includes recipes for snacking, such as Elven Bread, Iron Rations, savory Hand Pies, and Orc Bacon, as well as hearty vegetarian, meaty, and fish mains, such as Amphail Braised Beef, Hommlet Golden Brown Roasted Turkey, Drow Mushroom Steaks, and Pan-Fried Knucklehead Trout--all which pair perfectly with a side of Otik's famous fried spiced potatoes. There are also featured desserts and cocktails--such as Heartlands Rose Apple and Blackberry Pie, Trolltide Candied Apples, Evermead, Potion of Restoration, and Goodberry Blend--and everything in between, to satisfy a craving for any adventure.

Bought this for my D and D playing son Bought this for my D and D playing son. He cooks for D and D games as well as hosts for them D and D games. Loved that each recipe has a back story attached to it. Greta added food and additives to game night. My son and crew love it so much that I had to buy another one for my roommate!

Beautiful book Great gift Great quality book Great gift Great book with awesome illustrations of the D and D era and recipes. It was a gift so don 't have a picture to upload, but the quality was Def Deal for $21. It was so loved that my son kept it in his car and used it with his friends to cook some of the recipes inside. Amazon - Thank you very much!

   10/10 Would Recommend
I don 't know why people are complaining about the lack of pictures in this book. I thought there were a lot of pictures and the pictures were all very good. There is not a picture for every recipe, but for most there are pictures. And the recipes I have tried are really good! My only potential complaint is that some of the aliments are recipes that you would already find available in the world anyway, like Dwarven flatcakes being pancakes. But, I take it anyway. I still feel like I brought my Dnd friends to impress if I still feel like pancakes or fondue.

Not enough pictures to go with recipes
First I would preface this with I still think it is a worth while purchase. I like to buy themed cookbooks. I also really enjoy dandd, and I really enjoy it. So naturally '' I got this book. The overall quality is amazing. From the cover to the art throughout the cover, My main issue with this is personal when it comes to the cookbook itself. I like having a picture with each recipe and this book provides a final product for every 3-5 recipes. The recipes themselves don 't really matter to me, they all look interesting and worth trying. But primarily for a cookbook, it takes 18 or more pages front and back to get to the first recipe. If you like themed cookbooks or dandd, it is worth the buy. But if you like to see what all your recipes should look like or the final product, it does not really deliver. It does have a nice variety of food and drinks.

   Supremely disappointing.
This would be fine for someone who wants to collect DandD or new stuff, but honesty, there is nothing fantasy related in this book. They took a bunch of well known staple foods and renamed them just. French stew, oatmeal, beef soup.

   Outstanding
We bought this book for our 20-something granddaughter, who had been into DandD for years. She loves it! She loves it! '' She says it was created by people who really understand DandD and the recipes are great. The illustrations are gorgeous!

   Just what you needed!!!
My family made several recipes from this book, they were all amazing! Highly recommended for everyone, even for someone who is not a DandD fan. I do recommend a scale though. Example potato leak soup asks for the weight of the potatoes and not the number of them.

   Beautiful book and gift
I bought this for one of my younger children, who is both DandD and a budding chef. The artwork is really good and the recipes are nice. They were extremely happy with the gift and we already see some recipes that we will definitely try out.
