   valuable info
The last time I bought a house was in 1991, so I was a little rusty, he said. I recently purchased a copy of "Buying First Home and the Home Buying Kit" by Robert Kiyosaki. When I read the book, I thought there would be a lot of duplication, but actually it's more complimentary than competitive, Mr. Dhaliwal said. It's great to have someone you can trust buy both of these things for anyone entering the housing market. Both books do a poor job of explaining how home buyers can obtain a strategic edge in home search and home buying negotiations through the use of the internet. However, the extent of this edge depends upon the quality of the online records provided by your state and county registrar, which may be why the books fail to mention it. In my case, I was able to find out a huge amount about the personal and financial status of sellers through public records, which I found extremely useful during the home search and negotiation process.

   Required Reading for home buyers
Even if you're not searching for a home, get this book if you ever plan to buy one. Even if you read it a year or two before you start the exercise, it may actually be more helpful. The wording is intelligent but accessible to those of us not in the real estate industry, Raymond said. The most useful part of the book is the chapter that helps you decide whether or not you should even consider buying a home, since it could potentially lead to financial despair if the foundation doesn't exist in your life.

Good, but no substitute for assembling an excellent team
This is a great book for someone who has the time and discipline to read it and do what it says, said Dr. Goin. I read enough of it that I got some confidence when I started looking for a house, but what I really benefited from was having a superb agent, mortgage broker, and home inspector, he said.

Gives a great overview of the process
Selling Houses by first-time buyers was a daunting prospect, but this book helped me understand the whole process. Because a lot of the rules vary by state, it won't give you a complete step-by-step walk through, but it will give you enough information so you can talk to real estate agents, mortgage brokers and lawyers.

A must read for first time buyers!
Before I started reading this book, I had absolutely no idea about the home buying process and different terminologies associated with it. Fixing your credit, closing your home and even saving money on your car are all covered in this book. This book will surely recommend it to anyone who is unfamiliar with the entire process of home buying in the US. The book also includes a lot of calculation tables and spreadsheets which help you understand different amounts and percentages associated with home buying.

   Perfect for newbies
For those that are not beginners, I would still recommend this book as it does a great job explaning all the little things and big things to get in order before deciding to buy a house. Great price, great book, said Dr. Goin.

   it's a starting point
Before we talk about buying a house, we must first understand the preliminary steps to buying home, much of which has to do with getting your financial house in order, he said. That's as it should be, as the uninitiated might try to skip this step and look at listings. The team is about as far as I got. I decided to finish paying off debts before even selecting a neighborhood so I can say this book helped me a lot by guiding me to proceed this way, said Darl McBride, senior vice president at RealEstate. com. Once we're debt-free I think I can pick a neighborhood and start looking for listings. It seems to me that's how you find an agent, but the book doesn't really tell you that. But for a first time homebuyer who's not familiar with the process, it's a good book.

   Good basic info but outdated
I wish I had gotten around to reading this before the middle of the home buying process, but I was glad to see how much I had learned from the experience itself. This book is good if you have absolutely no idea what buying a house is all about. It also is geared toward the middle of the country, where real estate markets are more competitive, he said. The talk of $200,000 houses got irritating.

Simple, easy to understand. Great for first time home buyers!
Buyers Guide to Homebuying is a must-have resource for anyone researching, inspecting, and purchasing a home. Buyers are advised to expect some unexpected expenses when they are going to purchase a home. In addition, we referred to it several times. Now we are in our dream house, and everything went smoothly, she said. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
