A useful guide for furniture placement can be found in this coffee table book. There are great design and decor ideas. Most of the colors used are blacks whites and wood tones, which is my aesthetic as well. If you are looking for bright colors, don't purchase this book. There isn't a reference page for the design pieces used but it's a guide for inspiration.

I was in the process of buying furniture for my apartment and hoped this book would give me some inspiration. The book is mostly rustic and large. There are no modern design examples included. Not much use to me, and not what I was expecting.

The book is absolutely stunning. It is both informative and beautiful to look at. There are lots of helpful hints and solutions. You will find something of value if you read it. The book is of high quality. I like the way things feel. This book will not fail. The strong hard cover, the crisp thick pages and the visual feast of subtle photography make this a treasure. I have gifted four copies of this delight and will continue to do so.

Joanna does it again! The coffee table quality is amazing. While the photos and sketches are nice, it is what she has to say in the writing that makes this book so valuable. The personality of those living within can be shown rather than trying to copy someone else. I loved this book.

An interesting look at some of Joanna Gaines projects

There is some interesting narrative in this book, and it is an interesting look at several of the design projects by Joanna. I was promised creative ways to work with what you have when I looked for it. All of her design project examples and photos seem to be full scale remodels, so it's hard to identify with them.

I want to love it but....

I really like the designs on Fixer Upper, and I also like Chip and Jo. There is a problem with the lack of color in this book. White, black, and gray. They start to blend together over and over again. The kid's section has some color. I like what she has to say about making your home work for you. There wasn't enough variety in the designs.
