Please, please PLEASE don't get this for your daughters!
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I thought it would be cute for my little girl, but I never read that again. It's about a little girl and her brother. It goes wrong. The boy bunny ignores the girl bunny after she gets upset by all the teasing and attacking. She decided to put up with the bad behavior because it was how he showed he loved her. What the heck? It's ok for girls to be abused and dumped on, and we should just put up with it, because love is what love is. Never again! This is a horrible book coming from someone who has gone through abuse.

Terrible Message
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I am surprised that this book was accepted by Beginner Books. Little girls love the pink cover and bunny. The subliminal message is that girls need to accept abuse in order to be loved. If they dare to stand up for their rights, they are rejected. The moral of the story is helped by Honey Bunny's mother. In 1997 it was written by a woman. It is similar to a work written by a chauvinist male in the 1400s.

A good opportunity to discuss teasing
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
This book is not a book about sibling relationships, which are too complicated to discuss in a children's book. The story is about a little girl and her brother. PJ teases honeybunny. He teases her. The way a little boy teases his sister is the way he shows his affection. Most parents wouldn't want their children to show affection towards each other, but it's accurate. My sister would make fun of me. If anyone else tried to tease me. She would jump to my defense. This is not a story that will encourage it. It's a good way for parents to discuss the consequences of teasing with their children. This book was about the problems with siblings. It's a good way to communicate between siblings.

Encourages negative gender roles and bullying
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
If you're looking for a teachable moment to talk to your child about bulllying, abuse, and negative gender norms, this is the book for you. The story is about a boy who is abusive to his sister. The parents finally took action against the boy. The sister decided that the brother no longer loves her, so she sought out his negative attention. I don't recommend this book.

I think it was a cute bunny on the front, I got it from a grandparent for Easter. The message was toxic. A bunny is convinced that her sibling is loving her.

Instruction manual for domestic abuse
Derived From Web , Apr 5, 2021
I understand we're more aware of things now as a society, but even in 1997, someone should have realized that this book is teaching young girls that abuse from boys is love.

Honestly...doesn't seem a good story
Derived From Web , Sep 25, 2020
The story seems to send a wrong message about love. PJ is a mean person in the story. He's mean, not just playful. He torments his sister by breaking her toys, ruining her drawings, and doing all kinds of mean things to her. He won't talk to Honey anymore when he gets scolded by his mom. He doesn't pay attention to her. He ignores her because he is not allowed to torment her. Honey ran to her mom crying and told her that PJ doesn't love her anymore. Mom says he looks in the mirror. She slept while he painted her face. It seems like it's sending a message that when boys are mean to you, they love you. I don't really dislike books, but I do dislike this one.

Awful
Derived From Web , Apr 13, 2020
The brother dislikes Honeybunny so much he treats him like garbage. When he gets in trouble for his behavior, he shuns her and then her brother ignores her. Everyone is happy when he starts treating like trash again. This story is terrible. It is a terrible lesson for girls. This is kindling and nothing more.
