   Basic book for new-to-chilies cooks
This is a fairly basic book and contains no information that I did not know about peppers nor any recipes that I found particularly interesting. But we are a family that loves hot peppers and grow them every year and make our own sauces and salsa. If you are new to cooking with peppers or making hot sauce, you will probably find this useful. If you are an experienced Chinese phile, you won 't find anything new here, and I would recommend that you continue the search for a better book.

Expand your horizons beyond Tabasco & Cholula!
Did you know that as soon as we feel the hot sting of a chili, our bodies release pain-killing endorphins stronger than morphine and just as addictive ''. But it has got to be one of the explanations for our fascination with these fruits. The book begins with a little history - and some folklore - about these peppers. She follows with a description of lots of different varieties and the nuances of flavor and heat. Different flavors, different heat levels - I can 't wait to try some of these. It is time to expand my horizons beyond Tabasco and Cholula, for sure! Enjoy!

   Worldly Deliciousness in One Book
I am the last person who would ever purchase a cookbook on anything hot, let alone a spicy sauce cookbook. When I read the synopsis, however, it peaked my interest. I always think of hot sauce as a random condiment, but after reading this book, I discovered that hot sauces have a huge global influence. The Hot Sauce Cookbook by Rockridge Press is a multicultural, multilayered exploration of what is hot around the world. The Hot Sauce Cookbook is the book for anyone who wants to spice up their life and their food from the American Southwest to the West Indies and Caribbean as well as numerous Asian countries.

I think this is an interesting book, but it has a basic covering of recipes because of the space it uses.

Not as many hot sauce recipes as I would have thought, but still offers some good recipes. Nothing seemed to have a long term storage space, as I was looking for can-adventure recipes.

Disappointed with most of the recipes
Was hoping that this would be more of a hot sauce book in there just a few hot sauce recipes.

   Not worth buying
This book is a disappointment and I return it. There are only 6 pages about the Chills and about a sentence or two about them, not even a picture of what they look like. There is a scoville list, but you can find this online. In fact, the information here about chilis and peppers can be found by an internet search. If you want to know more about peppers of the world, a much better book is Peppers of the Americas : The Remarkable Capsicums That Ever Changed Flavor [A Cookbook].

Many recipes are missing key authentic ingredients or substitutions.
Very basic recipes are available. Many have been dumbed down presumably to make ingredients easy to find.
