A New York Times Bestseller
An Instant Indie Bestseller

A dark, twisty modern fairytale where three sisters discover they are not exactly all that they seem and evil things really do go bump in the night.

Iris Hollow and her two older sisters are unquestionably strange. Ever since they disappeared on a suburban street in Scotland as children only to return a month a later with no memory of what happened to them, odd, eerie occurrences seem to follow in their wake. And they're changing. First, their dark hair turned white. Then, their blue eyes slowly turned black. They have insatiable appetites yet never gain weight. People find them disturbingly intoxicating, unbearably beautiful, and inexplicably dangerous.

But now, ten years later, seventeen-year-old Iris Hollow is doing all she can to fit in and graduate high school on time--something her two famously glamourous globe-trotting older sisters, Grey and Vivi, never managed to do. But when Grey goes missing without a trace, leaving behind bizarre clues as to what might have happened, Iris and Vivi are left to trace her last few days. They aren't the only ones looking for her though. As they brush against the supernatural they realize that the story they've been told about their past is unraveling and the world that returned them seemingly unharmed ten years ago, might just be calling them home.

6 STARS, WILL READ AGAIN. AND AGAIN.
How is it that I waited so long to read this absolutely stunning masterpiece??!

This is the best book I've read this year. This is a book I cannot wait to read again, one I want to recommend to everyone I know, one I want on school reading lists even!

You can read the summary in the blurb, but this book is about three sisters who aren't what they seem. They know it, their parents know it, everyone just sort of ignores it. There's a fantastical element to it - an almost fae magic feel. But that's not what makes this book excellent.

This book has LAYERS. No, not like a cake. Like an onion. Layers that will hurt you as you peel them back. But at the same time will add a deliciousness to your life. That's probably the worst metaphor I've ever typed and I apologize for it here and now.

Underneath the highly entertaining mystery/thriller story is a treatise on the way society views modern women. Each of the three sisters could represent one of the characters we can choose. There's Iris, who tries to be what everyone wants her to be and is appreciated for it, her life made simpler. There's Gray, the model/mogul who uses her beauty as a weapon. And there's Vivi, who tries to cast off her beauty by shearing her hair and armoring herself with tattoos and drugs, trying to be the opposite of what everyone wants and expects her to be, casting off all of society's expectations. Which avatar will you choose?

I was enthralled, this book empowered me, this book changed me on a deep level. This book put a part of me back together I didn't know was broken. I would hand it to any teenage girl in search of who she is. I'd hand it to any adult woman who is tired of everyone expecting everything from her. I'll hand it to my sons when they're old enough to read it so they can understand women on a deeper level.

Please go read this. Please come talk to me about this. I need to write a dissertation but instead you're getting my word vomit. I'm not doing this book the justice it deserves.

   Really left me messed up
If you're interested in horror and fantasy and want both of those in one book, I recommend you read this. I was interested in this because of the cover, the mystery, but what I got was not what I was expecting at all! There is a big focus on horror in this trailer. flowers of death, horned men who try to kill them at almost every turn, and things that live in your skin, as well as a good dosage of action and violence, are just some of the things that live there. I believe this is a story of sisters and what it is like to be a woman in the world, Taylor said. The fear of home alone at night, stalkers, and what people expect from you when you're in any sort of spotlight. This did have me tearing up a bit at multiple times, but I would rate this as one of my favorite books that I have read this year. It's great to have a physical copy of the book. If you're not feeling particularly spooky, you can read this in the fall.

   The perfect story in 2021
Not all are things as they seem, Mary Shelley said in her second book, "Frankenstein." In Baghdad, I will riot. !Okay, now that I said that, I was right to have this as a most anticipated read of 2021. What would you do for your sisters? I have a feeling this is going to be a favorite for 2021. All Rights Reserved.

   A unique folk horror story
The House of Hollow is a unique folk horror story that deals with nature, death, beauty and decay. The story follows the lives of Iris and Vivi, two sisters who are determined to find their missing sister. There is also a whole mystery surrounding their childhood, where they went missing for a month and miraculously came back with no memories of what happened to them. Despite the intriguing premise, things don't really pick up until the second half, they say. The first half is spent looking for Grey and it's quite obvious where she is and how to find her, but the sisters are slow to the uptake. It's also very predictable who the villain is. The second half is when things get really freaky and dark, he said. I was satisfied with the reveal and how the story ended, Mr. Kennedy said.
