Boy or Girl

I bought this for my 4 boys 8, 2 and twin 1yr olds. They all love to read these books at night, but this book was rather helpful. The book shows first how not to treat a dog, then shows how you should treat your dog if you love it. My 8 yr old realized how he was not walking our dog right and made a decision to treat him well by treating him. My 2 yr old still wants to feed the dog and well, the twins now wants to lay on the dog bed. If you are thinking about a dog for the kids, this is a nice whimsical way of how they should love their dog.

Great for dog owners
Derived From Web , Jun 22, 2021
My only wish is that it said something more about sorting out and being gentle with dogs. It says it a little bit, but I bought this in hopes that it would say something to help my little boy learn the art of being gentle.

While a very good chore to have kids do
Derived From Web , Sep 8, 2018
This is a cute series, but not one of the stronger books. Not all things that dinosaurs do with their dogs are ones that parents always want their children to read at the ages at which they will do this.

I feel like this book does more to teach children ideas of how to mistreat their dogs than it does to teach them how to treat dogs. My 3 year old is probably just too young, but the book didn 't make it clear enough that the things in the book was bad at the beginning and that the actions towards the end of the book were actually how you should behave. I found myself constantly having to interject a couple of times a page because her attention span isn 't that long and I didn 't want her to lose interest before she got to the moral of the story.

We love all the dinosaur series books, but this extra fun is that it teaches you to care for your dogs safely. Only the down side is how the first half of the book asks if the dinosaurs are doing a bunch of mean things to their dogs, which seems like it almost suggests actions in the mind of the listener, which is a little tricky with a toddler. But that is the standard dinosaur format ( i.e.

Not the best way to talk about treating animals
Derived From Web , Apr 28, 2018
My son loves this book, but I was hoping for a book that talked about being kind, positive ways to interact with dogs. I wish it addressed the common things that kids do like hitting, throwing, chasing and getting down at the eye level. It talks more about what should be handled by grown-ups. What is my adult putting a kid in charge of making sure a dog eats?
