Book Overview

In this New York Times bestseller illustrated by Caldecott Honor-winning illustrator David Shannon, a boy sets off on a pirate adventure--with surprising results

When a pirate ship sails by, young Jeremy learns how to say scurvy dog, sing sea chanteys, and throw food . . . but he also learns that there are no books or good night kisses on board: Pirates don't tuck. A swashbuckling adventure with fantastically silly illustrations.

   Great Read!
My 3 year old book loved it, my great son! We first borrow it from the local library, and he loved it so much that we had to buy his own copy. If this review was helpful to you, click the below button. Thanks! ''

   Cute book!
This was a sweet little book and my boys really liked it. I got the book to read like a pirate day and it was fun to celebrate using pirate voices. The little boy in the book takes the reader on a journey of what he did with the pirates and how he left with them later and then came back home. This story continues in the book Pirates Don 't Change Diapers ''. What is also a cute story.

   A classic in our household.
I've probably read this book a number of times between my 2 children. Both of them loved it and I often suggested it. It is one of those few children's books that you can tolerate and enjoy for a few hundred times until you don 't really need to look at the words anymore. I found it to be an amusing story with an end that values parents. The drawings were not my favorite, but they have grown on me after some time. I now review this years after my children have outgrown it so that I can buy it for my niece and nephew.

Great book & fun to read
This is a great picture book and your favorite pirate should read it out loud.

   Fantastic Book!
My three-year-old son absolutely loves this book and often asks me to read it twice or three times in a row. He will repeat the lines from the book to me during the day. It is a great find for anyone who has a toddler who loves pirates!

An engaging story for any pirate wanna-be with a twist ending
This is my go-to for grandsons, nephews and baby showers for boys. Hilarious story with crazy illustrations and a happy ending.

   Kidnapped !
I know that children don 't think like adults, so I feel bad about leaving a poor review for such a beautiful illustrated book. Early in the story, Jeremy Jacob has neglectful parents who have better things to do than to listen to him. I could not get any further than that.

   Fun Story About Pirates
Became aware of this book while teaching in an elementary school due to David Shannon's David books. A fun story about pirates!

Don't Buy, unless you want to teach your children it's ok to leave with strangers!! Terrible!!
I was enticed by all the great reviews! I was so excited to read this book for my nephew, but this was a HORRIBLE book and story! Boy and his family are on the beach. A gang of pirates talk to the boy and tell him that he has treasure and that he should go with them. Since when do we teach our children to leave with strangers to go ANYWHERE without talking to their parents? REALLY? The book should be removed from the circulation!

   Perfection
Such a fun read aloud is that it allows the reader to talk in a pirate voice.
