Profoundly moving . . . Will take your breath away. --Kathleen Glasgow, author of Girl in Pieces

A stunningly gorgeous and deeply hopeful portrayal of living with mental illness and grief, from an exceptional new voice.

Biz knows how to float. She has her people, her posse, her mom and the twins. She has Grace. And she has her dad, who tells her about the little kid she was, and who shouldn't be here but is. So Biz doesn't tell anyone anything. Not about her dark, runaway thoughts, not about kissing Grace or noticing Jasper, the new boy. And she doesn't tell anyone about her dad. Because her dad died when she was seven. And Biz knows how to float, right there on the surface--normal okay regular fine.

But after what happens on the beach--first in the ocean, and then in the sand--the tethers that hold Biz steady come undone. Dad disappears and, with him, all comfort. It might be easier, better, sweeter to float all the way away? Or maybe stay a little longer, find her father, bring him back to her. Or maybe--maybe maybe maybe--there's a third way Biz just can't see yet.

Debut author Helena Fox tells a story about love and grief, about inter-generational mental illness, and how Read More chevron_right

   Outstanding Read!
I really enjoyed this book, said Blair. It's a great movie, full of feelings that aren't portrayed in books. I would highly recommend this author to anyone. It's great to be back home, said Blair.
How it feels when you start to lose your mind...
It's a searing account of how it feels to lose a parent—and then, as a teen, how it feels when you start to lose your mind. Lyrical writing, suspense, a bit of LGBTQ, the fragility of friendship and the precariousness of sanity all contribute to this beautifully written book. It's just that I wish this wasn't Helena Fox's only novel.
i think it's a really good book if ur thinking of buying it. It's just that it's so worth it.
   I didn’t like it.
I really didn't love this book, Gillian. It started off pretty strong, but then it lost me about a quarter of the way through. I found myself begging to be done with it so I could start a new book, he said. Brand New Zealand would not recommend it. There were lots of descriptions, but no real story. It was too much to where I found myself skipping it because I was sick of reading how blue the sea was.
Buy it, you won't regret it.
This book is a little slow, but I enjoyed it. It was very unique, said Blair. I've loved that it took place in Australia because I feel like most YA books are written by American or British authors. I'm not really sure what to say about this book other than I'd recommend it to anyone.
