Book Overview

Teaches the importance of teamwork and perseverance through seven crayons with unique personalities and their desire to see the world in color.

The Sun and the Clouds are best friends. Together they keep the world warm, the gardens growing, and the sky full of beautiful rainbows. But one day they get into a fight and refuse to be in the sky together. And that means there are no longer any rainbows. Without rainbows, the colors start disappearing until Earth was left with no color . except for one little forgotten box of crayons in one little school desk.

Determined to save the rainbows and fix the Sun and Clouds' friendship, the crayons draw rainbows all over town. Their attempts go unnoticed. Soon they realize that they're going to have to do something big to get the attention of the former friends. So, the crayons create the biggest rainbow they can and hope it's enough to bring color back to the world.

   Good book
My child requested a book about rainbows as they were learning about the weather. He was a fan of this book. I liked that it told a good story, but it was not too wordy. The illustrations were done well.

   Beautiful pictures and story.
I am in love with this book. The pictures are bright and colorful. The story is easy to understand. They were reminded that we can help others. I love the book! If you remove the paper cover, you still have a hardcover with the picture on the front. I think it's a good book for 3-6 year olds.

   Was disappointed
The story is good for me. I was expecting a lot of illustrations. I bought this for my students. Most preschoolers like big colorful illustrations, but this book didn't have much.

   Grandson loves it!
I ordered for our grandson. Before bed, he reads it with his parents. He is 12 years old and knows a lot of words. He likes it!

   Wonderful kid's book
My grandson is three years old. He likes hearing it read to him and we discuss how the clouds and the sun feel. I believe it is helping him work through his feelings.

   Really cool book.
The inspiration for our spring break camp came from this book. The contrast of a world with and without colors, a conflict between friends, and the cooperation between team members are just some of the things that can be used in a classroom. The illustrations are easy to understand. The book is really cool.

   Good Story
I want to read a book with my child. This is not just a cute story. People can make a difference even when they think they're not influential, we talk about why friends might get mad. I hope we read this for many years to come.

Not part of the award winning rainbow book series...
I am familiar with children's books. The Day the Crayons Came Home series of books was enjoyable. I believe there are three of them. When I bought this book, I thought it was part of the same series as the author and illustrator. They're not. My fault. I should have looked more closely. The book is not bad for me. It had a good message, but wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I want customers to know that this book isn't connected to the award winning series that all the kids are crazy about.
