   A Hit . . .
This book has been a hit with both my grandsons, who have curious young minds. When I gave it to them, they were 8 and 10, and they devoured it.

   How things work book
My eight-year-old grandson is an excellent reader and reads this book easily. He is very interested in how all things work and this book is full of interesting things. A beautiful big, hard cover book with lots of full color pages and interesting info with reasonably current info. I am happy with this purchase and so is my grandson.

   Great book!
He recently told me that he still likes reading it after two months and loves the pictures and explanations and reading them over and over. It is one of those books that you can pick up and open anywhere in it and be interested or educated right away. Heavy and made very well.

For a child at an advanced reader level
I purchased this for an 8 year old, since I saw it rated for 8-12 year olds. The subject material, presentation and page layout look good and worthy of being a National Geographic '' product. It is, however, written for an advanced reader. I doubt that many 8-year-old readers can manage to read it by themselves. I took it along to the 12 year old for Christmas with a warning to parents that it was more at a 8 year old level than at the 12 year old. The subject will interest the 8 year old, but in order to avoid frustration, the parents will have to read it to the 8 year old child.
