Book Overview

Celebrate the special bond between grandpas and grandchildren in this delightful New York Times bestseller that puts the kids in charge

A New York Times bestselling picture book--from the creators of the hilarious HOW TO. series--about a child spending time with his grandpa. Written in a how-to style, the narrator gives important tips for babysitting a grandpa, including what to eat for snack (anything dipped in ketchup, ice cream topped with cookies, cookies topped with ice cream) what to do on a walk (find lizards and dandelion puffs, be on the lookout for puddles and sprinklers), and how to play with a grandpa (build a pirate cave, put on a scary play).

Filled with humor, energy, and warmth, this is a great gift for or from a grandparent, and perfect for lap reading when Grandpa comes to visit

More Fun Than Many "Grandparent" Books
There are lots of grandparent books out there, but some of them can be kind of needy or pushy for me. This book is appealing because it is playful and pretty insightful. It turns a little child's concerns about being left with a babysitter into little jokes about grandparents. This switcheroo is smart and gives the book a bit of zip. The jokes are affectionate and cheerful, but still mild and predictable. The book's tone is consistently upbeat and there aren 't any jokes or funny bits that make you stop and wonder why anyone thought that was funny ever. Both because this is about as appealing as store-bought whimsy can get and because grandfathers are a hard bunch to buy anything for, this book worked for me. And I'll guarantee that if you sit down to read this book with one or more of your grandchildren, you'll end up doing some of the things suggested as grandpa pleasers.

I purchased this book for my 3 year old daughter to help her prepare for her first night away from me and her Daddy. I figured that since she was living with her Grandma and Grandpa, this book would be perfect with How to Babysit a Grandma. I was right! I was right! '' She absolutely loves this book and how to babysit a grandma. She does not care that the character is a boy in the book. She has already started talking about what she and Papa are going to do when she babysits him later that month. It's a really cute story and I'm really happy that I bought this book.

Grandpa is NOT the sitter in this one
Instead of Grandpa babysitting the child, the reverse is true in this book. The child goes to spend the day with Grandpa, who needs a sitter. It follows their activities and adventures for the entire day ending with the PARENTS coming to take the SITTER home. This would be a great book to read just before a visit to Grandpa or for a child to read aloud to Grandpa during a visit!

   Very Cute
Bought this with How to love your grandma and babysit them both. We purchased board books on both. I have shown by 6 year old daughter and she thought that Grandma and Grandpa would love them! My only issue is that I wish you could pick either a girl or a boy as a child, but it is okay. Still great books!

   Dad, Mom, and Grandpa
It is okay if it's okay. Not for single mothers, as the book talks about leaving Mom and Dad and that they always come back. Grandpa is an important person in my child's life, so I got this as a gift. The dad part of the auntie had to be changed to Dad! Also geared more towards a boy child.

   Boring
Not very funny or exciting. My son absolutely adores his Grandpa, so I thought this would be a great book for them, since Grandpa reads to him ALL the time. Kid wouldn 't sit still, was very uninterested in the artwork, and Grandpa was not amused. The pages overall were just too busy, and nothing climactic happened.

   Special Gift
This made a touching Father's Day gift for my father! My baby is not his first grandchild, but he 'll be his favorite now I wrote a poem that I found online, on the first page and I also put my little ones hand print to make it more special! Whether it is Valentine's Day, Christmas, Valentine's Day or his birthday, he will definitely love it for your father! ! !

   Bent up slipcover
Ordered for my father as a Father's Day gift to read with our children. Just opened it and was disappointed that the cover was so bent. I ordered it just to see if I accidentally used it, but nope, brand new. The book itself is so fun and adorable. I have the How to Babysit a Grandma for my mother for Mother's Day and she loves it.

   Cute book
We bought the series this one, how to raise Grandma, babysit a mother. The illustrations are gorgeous and it is a cute, humorous book. However, the book appears to be lost on toddlers. I '' think it's for the over 3 or 4 crowd, because it doesn 't hold the attention of a 2 year old. When my grandkids reach the age of liking it, I may have to go back and give it that 5th star.
