   My son loves this!
Very nice for beginners and has very broken step by step instructions. He loves this book and has done almost every drawing!

   Strong drawing skills needed
My grandson is six, an above average drawer, but he was reluctant to try these drawings.

Some of the Pictures are a bit Tricky for 6 y/o, but Not Too Bad.
Overall, this is a decent how-to-draw book, but for the age range it could use a few more steps for some of the more detailed monsters. The beginning intro of the book is different because it tells what materials are required, different shapes, lines, details, backgrounds, etc. I received this for my 6 yo because she has been drawing a lot lately. I thought a how-to book could give her some pointers. Some of the pictures are a little too complex for her age, but there are also easier ones for her to do. My daughter chose the ghost so that I drew the alien that was on the opposite side. This way we were both drawing together and she enjoyed that just as much as she wassuing the book as a drawing guide. This book is nice because we both took the basic shape that was in the book and then added our own details. It is important to draw lightly so that lines can be erased.

Best for ages 11 and up
One of my daughters is very creative and a pretty good artist for her age, and some of this book is perfect for her, while others are a little more advanced. I like that there are a variety of monsters, it is not all Halloween - stuff. There is a zombie, a sphinx, a dragon, a chupacabra, etc. Theres four main sections teaching technique like shape, form and perspectivebalance. One page character tutorials -- two page tutorials -- decorated scene frames for you to draw your characters in overall, the book is not for the advertised age. I hate that it says on the front cover very boldly ages 6-9. Because of that, my older children are really not interested in it, though it is perfect for their skill level.

Good Designs, but more advanced than advertised
In my opinion, this is not for beginners. I love the designs '', however. In the final step, no finished color picture would be helpful.
