Promotes division
Derived From Web , Jan 20, 2022
Anyone who writes a book and capitalizes white '' when referring to a black person and leaves white '' when referring to a white person is a promoter of division and racism. If you put an adjective in front of justice, it is not justice. Economic justice, racial justice, environmental justice, any form of “social †justice that seeks to correct †actual justice, undermines justice.

powerful, practical, deeply encouraging
Derived From Web , Nov 24, 2021
3 chapters are devoted to each, with an intro and a conclusion. I found it all very encouraging, but I enjoyed especially Chapter 4 : How to Study the History of Race ch. 7 How to Orient Racial Communities and Chapter 10 How to Build Diverse Justice in Your Life. Throughout the book, Jemar quotes scriptures as well as statistics, engages theology as well as history, and even shares the gospel explicitly a few times. Everything that Jemar writes is worth reading, and this is no exception.

Insightful and Practical
Derived From Web , Mar 12, 2021
I learned so much from Jemar Tisby's work in The Color of Compromise about the historical complicity of the Church in racism, so when I heard about his latest book, I was excited to dive into reading it. How to Fight Racism offers practical and thoughtful suggestions and ways in which we can eradicate racism within ourselves and our communities. This book is a must-read for any individual who wants to become proactive about being anti-racist.

Using racist ideologies to combat racism will never work.
Derived From Web , Jan 9, 2021
This flawed book sadly oversimplifies the ever-negative aspect of life, the immutable difference in skin color, while racism is antithetical to Christianity, so is Critical Race Theory and its proponents. The state goal of CRT of disrupting the family seems to make it a rather unfitting tool for a Christian. Nevermind the postmodernism, identitarianism or neo-Marxism baggage that it also totes. Free will means that we should strive for equality of opportunity for all, regardless of their immutable properties.

A prod to live into Prophetic Imagination
Derived From Web , Jan 6, 2021
Tisby has once again dissected the complicated issue of racism in a way that is profound and approachable. His perspective as historian provides context to how institutional racism is embedded in all aspects of our American society, including religious organizations of all shapes and sizes. In Tisby's first book, The Color of Compromise, he gives a survey of racism in the Church's religious institution. In this, his second book, Tisby emphasizes practicality with many suggestions for fighting racism. The fight requires the heart and head to engage. It occurs in the context of relationships, while we increase our awareness personally and join with others in collective action to change systems. I am grateful for Tisby's prophetic imagination in bringing us forward in fighting for the freedom of all humanity.

Practical follow up
Derived From Web , Jan 6, 2021
This was a fitting follow-up to Tisby's first book, The Color of Compromise. Whereas his first book was largely historical in nature, this book is extremely practical, full of helpful paradigm - shifting ideas and applications. Whether you are reading for yourself or on behalf of an organization, business or church, you will walk away challenged but ready to do your part in the fight for racial justice.
