Half of me was thinking, Georgina, don't do this. Stealing a dog is just plain wrong. The other half of me was thinking, Georgina, you're in a bad fix and you got to do whatever it takes to get yourself out of it.

Georgina Hayes is desperate. Ever since her father left and they were evicted from their apartment, her family has been living in their car. With her mama juggling two jobs and trying to make enough money to find a place to live, Georgina is stuck looking after her younger brother, Toby. And she has her heart set on improving their situation. When Georgina spots a missing-dog poster with a reward of five hundred dollars, the solution to all her problems suddenly seems within reach. All she has to do is borrow the right dog and its owners are sure to offer a reward. What happens next is the last thing she expected.

   Definitely worth reading!
In "Frozen," a homeless mother and her two daughters hatch a desperate plan to secure a home for the youngster, her mom and her younger brother. Though set in a small southern town, this story is in turns charming, melancholy, and funny. It's an insightful portrait of a young girl facing her first struggle with her conscience.

Recommended to me by a student
A fifth grader recommended this book to me because she knew I liked to read. She's a great kid, so I thought I should read it and let her know how much I enjoyed her choice, Sosa said. This is a good solid read for late elementary level readers, and even higher readers for pure enjoyment. However, he said, "Many of the elements are worthy of discussion and further analysis."

great read with good descriptions of poverty
I liked the way the story was told, the way the heroine was treated. Anyone reading this would have more empathy for people in difficult situations, Mr. Rule told the judge.

   It's pretty goog
it's pretty good so I don't think that it was a little better for the normal book and I don't know what time it was in the book.

   Lesson learned don't steal
The writing was good and hard to put down, Raymond said. It was mostly sad, said Blair. One is truly grateful for what you have, Bruno said. It's just that they train spoiled little girls how to judge the world's most beautiful women.

   Wonderful Book
My daughter, who is 7 years old, absolutely loved it. It's just too good to be true." We spent a lot of time discussing the book, and it had some important lessons to learn from it too, he said. A great book for kids, too.

Excellent book as usual by the best author ever
I've read all the Barbara O'Connor books, and I still love them. I read this to my children as a homeschool read aloud. I almost missed them both, literally begged them to keep reading. There are some who just find themselves rooting for them all. It was a total disaster, we all cried at the end. This is a great book, highly recommend.
