I love the situational breakdowns... They make this book very useful as a quick reference guide for the future. In the heat of the moment, I think we parents sometimes forget how to respond to our children best, but the content of this book provides much inspiration on how to do better.

The real life examples make it easy to try the concepts with my children. I find that when I remember to use the techniques described in the book, my interactions with my children go much more smoothly and calmly. I am grateful to have these ideas to use during fights and tantrums.

Same concepts, new examples
Derived From Web , Aug 8, 2021
This book is very similar to the other books on How to Talk, but with different examples. At first, it was hard for me to get into this book, as the beginning shares concepts from previous books. While the authors acknowledge that there is not a right response, I wish they had dove deeper into when kid's won 't listen '' language, for example in chapter 13, name calling and baad '' language, they briefly touch on how to respond when they feel overwhelmed or dysregulated. This was really helpful and I would have liked more detailed explanations. If you are new to How to Talk books, I recommend starting with a different book. If you have read the other books and think that more examples would help you, then this book might benefit you. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.
