Book Overview

**THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELER**

Veteran style journalist Elizabeth Holmes expands her popular Instagram series, So Many Thoughts, into a nuanced look at the fashion and branding of the four most influential members of the British Royal Family: Queen Elizabeth I; Diana, Princess of Wales; Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge; and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are global style icons, their every fashion choice chronicled and celebrated. With all eyes on them, the duchesses select clothes that send a message about their values, interests, and priorities. Their thoughtful sartorial strategies follow in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth I and Diana, Princess of Wales, two towering figures known for using their personal style to great acclaim.

With one section devoted to each woman, HRH is a celebration of their stories and their style, pairing hundreds of gorgeous photographs with extensive research. A picture emerges of the British monarchy's evolution and the power of royal fashion, showing there's always more than what meets the eye.

   Just ok
I guess that I did not realize that this was a book on fashion. I don 't care what they wear. They are interesting, but Diana was my favourite. Diana reminds me of Kate. I really don 't care much for Harry and wished that Megan had not left. Sometimes I wonder how much longer the monarchy will last.

Not an expert. Full stop. Pass
But unfortunately, Elizabeth Holmes knows nothing about the Royals. Also evident in her commentary on IG Page : she doesn 't understand how monarchy works, yet tries to explain it in ways that are factually inaccurate. Did not interview any previous stylists who worked with the Royals. Just a fan who got published because she has followers who like the presentation of the stuff she posts rather than factual content. Unless you like picture books just like yourself.

   The Women behind the Clothes
I absolutely adored this splendid tribute to each of these four royal icons and how they have expressed themselves through their style choices. I love that this book first sees them as women, using the age old question What wears she '' to reflect back to the voice of the woman wearing the clothes.

Beautiful Book that Needs Better Editing
As a long-time follower of Elizabeth's So Many Thoughts, I was really looking forward to this book. The photos are reproduced with significant text, not just captions. Elizabeth has written introductions to each woman, followed by thematic sections on their trademark styles or evolution. The problem with this organization is that there is a good repetition that a significant editor could have removed. For example, we read all about the designer of Meghan's dress in the introduction to Meghan and then read the same information 25 pages later in a section dedicated to her wedding dress. There are factual errors, e.g. Reitman is not a department store, but a chain clothing store. Bucklebury is not a village near Berkshire, it is in Berkshire, which is a county in Berkshire.

Same old stuff and too much Meghan
Full Disclosure : I borrowed this from the library. I love all things about royal books, tv shows, documentaries, etc. You think that with a new coffee table book you would see some pricey stuff, especially when it is about fashion. Also, lets get real, Meghan Markle was a working member '' of the royal family for about 5 minutes. In this book she gets as much coverage as everyone else. Come on... That is ridiculous. Even a huge full page of her wedding from when she left the church. For decades, she was a fashion icon. I still love to look at her dresses in photos. She is always overlooked. This could have been so much better, bottom line.

   Disappointing
I really wanted to love this book 5 stars, but unfortunately it was a bit of a let down. I love So Many Thoughts on Instagram, so my expectations were high. One, I did not feel some of the best fashion moments were included in the pictures. Two, reading through it, I noticed a lot of information was repeated so that it felt like the author was trying to make the book longer, but it made it only tedious to read. Three, I really wanted her to add some of her classic SMART photos with speech bubble commentary! Especially since she does not do this on Instagram for the Queen or Diana. To me, this is what So Many Thoughts is, so I was surprised that it was not included in the book in some way. For me it was just okay. There is no Earth - shattering sorry to say.

Very Disappointing Sycophantic Kiss Up of Meghan Markle
Book of disappointing is a book of its own. Just a complete kiss up of Meghan Markle, whose only style I have ever seen is one of sloppiness with ill-fitting clothes and hair, be it formal engagements or casual Not impressed. It was not worth the money.

   Captivating work!!
I thought I might enjoy reading the pictures and looking at the captions, and then this book would look really pretty on the table in my home office. This was not at all how it played out. I stayed way too late and couldn t put it down until I had read it cover-to-cover.

For any royal lover and/or woman with style and a mission!
Absolutely gorgeous book with brilliant photos and insight into every syle and fashion choice made by these beautifully complex women of the Royal Family. Mode is a fierce communicator, used by the best. My book did come in a big box without cushion or filler and could have been damaged like other reviews, but thankfully mine was not. With that said, I review this physical book with 5 stars, not reviewing the glorious book condition upon arrival. Elizabeth Holmes, Well Done!

This book is my favorite! I am a huge fan of Elizabeth Holmes'apos ; So Many Thoughts on Instagram and this book brought the spirit of her stories beautifully to life. It is a fun and informative way to learn more about all the hard work that goes into the Royals'wardrobes and dress choices. You can read the whole thing from front to back, flip through the photos or pick up small tidbits at a time. Highly recommended!
