We can all be heroes. That's the inspiring message of this New York Times bestselling picture book biography series from historian and author Brad Meltzer. Learn all about Jane Goodall, the chimpanzee scientist.
Each picture book in this series is a biography of a significant historical figure, told in a simple, conversational, vivacious way, and always focusing on a character trait that makes the person a role model for kids. The heroes are depicted as children throughout, telling their life stories in first-person present tense, which keeps the books playful and accessible to young children. And each book ends with a line of encouragement, a direct quote, photos, a timeline, and a source list. This tenth book in the series features Jane Goodall, the scientist and conservationist who is famous for her work with chimpanzees. After receiving a stuffed animal chimpanzee for her first birthday, Jane Goodall's love of animals only grew. She saw what humans and animals had in common, not what makes us different, and used that to advocate for animal rights everywhere.

Wonderful Books

My daughter absolutely loved this book, and I can't imagine a better mother to raise a child than Sandra. She opened it up and read it pretty quickly, but she became an instant fan of the Australian bush scientist and was so happy to learn she's still alive. She really enjoyed the illustrations, too, Mr. Dhaliwal said. It's a present.

Fine Book in a Great Series
Derived From Web , Sep 21, 2020
It's a little book, but it's a towering portrayal of a great woman. Through Christopher Eliopoulos' delightful cartoons, the entire Goodall story is revealed in the easy reading text. No man or woman had gone where Goodall did, and in doing so she revolutionized biological science and the importance of primates in the great scheme of things. Easy-reading picture book biographies such as this excellent example help beginning readers move from ABC to nonfiction and to chapter books. Jane Goodall, the scientist who discovered the world's first radio frequency, is a virtual rock face.

Love this series!!
Derived From Web , Nov 26, 2017
I absolutely adore this series of books the illustrations are sweet and cute, the stories are endearing and encouraging, but also not so complicated that kids can't understand. Jane Austen's widow said her life story was "a very inspiring woman". She was courage and yes, some people may not agree with her methods but that's not for me to decide, she can be an inspiration to young girls that want to achieve their dreams or explore the unknown.

Left an impression on my daughter, surprisingly.
Derived From Web , Apr 13, 2017
I love her as a female role model, but just a human being who pursued her passion and moved the big needle, Raymond said. I wasn't expecting her to be moved by her story, but I thought that she might like it because she likes animals, Mr. Dhaliwal said. It's not a short book, for the first time when I read the whole book, she said that was a long book! But then she asked me a while later that she wanted me to read the book, and I think so far I've read it three times. But to my surprise - when my mom came to our place and played with my daughter, she was showing all her toys and books and she picked up this book and she said Her name is Jane Goodall and she likes monkeys, and I was like What did I just hear?!?!. Now I have the power of these books and the way we bring these incredible human beings' stories to life. Second, I will buy other books.

Amazon also sells the entire set of Die Hard 3D figures in a box set. The books are great to share with your 2 and 4 year old. It's great to be back home, said Gillian. The biggest compliment I can say is that Mr. Meltzer and Mr. Eliopoulos write more! Thanks for the support.

Wow! That was pretty impressive, right? I think I would have enough money to buy all the books, minus the first one. Very good book. The author didn't talk down to them, he said.
