Dr. Seuss's hilarious Beginner Book about a boy who refuses to get out of bed
NOTHING is getting the young hero of this easy-reader out of bed--not an alarm clock, roosters, barking dogs, the police, the news media, or the United States Marines With illustrations by beloved New Yorker cartoonist James Stevenson--and a plot that children and adults can relate to--this is a funny fantasy that the whole family can enjoy together Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meaning. A rhyming story that is full of laughs. 'The alarm can ring. The birds can peep.Today's the day I'm going to sleep, ' says a lazy boy one morning, and despite a pail of icy water, television coverage, and the arrival of the Marines, he vows to stay in bed--and he does The repetition of concepts and words will keep children turning the pages, as will the energetic drawings. It is really a fun book to read. The illustrations aren 't published by Seuss, so I take this one that he never intended to. But it is now out there. And you've got your 1 - star reviewers up in arms because the kid gets to stay in bed. How terrible! I have read a review by a working parent who was so upset that it seems like this book will derail her whole life. I think that a small good parenting would prevent it. Plus, as a working parent, it is kind of nice when the children want to sleep in. It gives you a little break time. Was it the best book by Seuss? Yes, it is necessary to maintain the identity. Did it get illustrated by Seuss? 3 - stars :

A favorite of my 5 year old.

Grams has this book in her house and my five-year-old wanted it at our home. Just FYI, this book was $5.25 when purchased in 1990, the price was still on it. I'll take it for a new hard back, $ 6.00. It is a great book and something we read over and over again, fun and silly for a young child.

Don’t waist your money! Not a good book.

I should have bought the other reviews that said not to listen to it, but i thought... Stian Kids live with their Dr Seuss Kids. Forge! Wrong! Just because they put his name on it, it does not mean that it was his writing.

At the end of the school year, I read this to my teenage class. The spring fever hit hard. Amid grins and groans, we broke the attitudes and had a better week.
