After all, no retelling of a great caper or revolutionary event ever started with the phrase, So a bunch of guys are all eating salad.

   changed our view of cocktails
Previously, I was only into Gin, but this book has introduced us to Martini's drinks. From start to finish, an outstanding book is read.

Beautiful book; great recipes, tips, & stories
I bought this as a gift for my husband, who loves to cook narrative books. The recipes'techniques are easy to follow, the pictures are beautiful and professional, and the stories around each cocktail make for great conversation. I am so glad I went with this high-quality book with recipes and so much more.

   Sother Teague is awesome!
This book is organized well and explains each spirit in depth before moving on to the drinks made from each.

   Too many obscure ingredients
I bought this book because we have a man cave with a bar. The thing I do not like about the book is that many recipes have ingredients that are not common in a home bar. These are not things that I would use or would most likely stock in other recipes. I don 't mind buying a unique ingredient or two, but found that this book contained too many recipes that I would never make due to the unique ingredients. I'm sure the recipes are good, but not a book in my opinion for the home bartender unless they have a lot of cabinet space and money.

   Buy this book!
I run a bar and have made this required reading for my entire staff. I also recommend this book for anyone even remotely interested in cocktails and spirits, as it is incredibly informative and fun to read for both home and professional bartenders.

A great book about drinks and cocktails
Over the last years, I have had the fortune of working with Sother a number of times. He is a wonderful bartender and a wealth of information. This book is a great compilation of all this knowledge and talent. This opportunity should be taken to learn something from him.

   A complete joy to read.
This book was shipped to me while I was at work, but when I came home, I found the book was jammed in my mailbox. I really hated damaging my things, but I could not wait a few more days until I could run into my mailman, so I forcefully removed the book. It took on some minor damage but is all right! I gained knowledge from the material and that is what matters the most. Sother has a plethora of fun anecdotes and I absolutely love his writing personality. Laughs are to be had in several places. The photos are charming and beautiful. I can go on and on, but I think that every hospitality enthusiast should pick up a copy. You will certainly regret it. Sother, thank you for writing an awesome piece of work. I hope to meet you soon and thank you in person.

If you can't make it to Sother's bar, this is the next best thing.
The book has the feel like the author is speaking to you as if you are a guest at his bar with all the warmth and information that he would provide to an inquisitive soul on a slow or moderate night. The book is divided into spirit categories with a description of how they are made. This overview is followed by classics and house - originals by the author. Moreover, he introduces us to other bar guests to talk to you about their drinks -- not famous guests, but other mixologists like Gaz Regan and Dale Degroff, who help round an education on drink crafting.

Come for the drinks, stay for the knowledge.
This ultimate drink guide does not disappoint from the beautiful artistry to the witty language. As a bartender myself, I treasure any knowledge that this man can bestow, as he is a legend and rightfully so. Finally, I have found the only bar book I ever need.
