Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

The battlefield was soaked in blood. Screams of injured soldiers rang through the air. Eleven-year-old Nathaniel Knox knelt behind a rock, his gun clutched in his shaking hands. Nate had been heading to New York City to find his father. But now he was trapped in a terrible gunfight between American and British troops.
This Revolutionary War had started as a thrilling fight for freedom. The 13 American colonies were breaking apart from England, away from King George I. The colonies would band together to become a brand-new country: The United States of America
But King George was like a snake with America gripped in his fangs - and he didn't want to let go. So now it was war - brutal, bloody war. And America was being crushed by the mighty British army. Thousands of American troops were either dead or dying in filthy British prison ships. General George Washington's army was in tatters.
All Nate wanted was to find his father.and to get out of here alive.

Fabulous for teacher and student to enjoy together
A middle school English student in Italy read a book about the French Revolution and wanted more. The reader is brought back in time to experience the historical moment in all its senses. There are many rich vocabulary words and cultural tidbits in both the English and history lessons. The books in this series are also available through Amazon in Europe.

   I Survived the American Revolution...
I liked the book. A quick and easy read. The author's story and facts at the end made me like it. Highly recommended.

   Not age appropriate
According to the recommendations, it's definitely not age appropriate. I am so thankful that I gave my son the book before previewing it. The first page was bad. It's not something you want your child to be reading.

Too graphic for a 2nd grader
I bought for my grandson. I want him to have a sense of patriotism and love for his country. It is a good idea to know our country's history. Before giving him the book, I read it. I am really glad I did. The content is very graphic and intense for this age group. He will not be getting this book for at least three years. I will be reading more uplifting and fun content in books for a while. There is enough to worry about for kids.

   Buy! You’ll thank me!
We ordered everyone from the series after we bought some. It is a great read for children. It was fun and enjoyable, but about true events. A great history lesson makes learning fun. My son was ready to start the next one. It is highly recommended for a young reader. You will thank me after you read the first one if you are not sure. They are great!

   Great Historic Fiction
My 9 year old has read several books in the series and really enjoyed them, so I decided to purchase this one for our home school studies on the American Revolution. This book is wonderful. There were many details from the time period. It gave us a lot of ideas to discuss. The author's viewpoint is neither conservative nor liberal, yet very patriotic, as the storyline grabs the attention. I will be buying a book for our unit.

Our 9-year old triplet boys love this entire series.
The triplets are now nine years old. The books were found in the school library. One person asked if I had any of the books that they were going to read. I didn't. I was asked if I could get the whole series for him. He has to share, but grandma did. They have their noses buried in the books. I'm happy that they're re-reading them because A didn't tell me that he'd already read 9 books in the series.

   Five Stars
A good historical fiction for boys with high interest and low reading ability. Would highly recommend.
