People hoping for a new life could homestead property via the U.S. government as a farmer. However, nothing comes easily. This book is more than just The Blizzard of the Children ''. It's about the real hardships and the overall pioneering spirit that it took to survive them and in some cases overtake them.

Received torn book

It was awkward to explain to my daughter why Santa brought her a ripped book. This was not damaged during shipping, but a torn book sold and sent out. Not too happy.

If you want to get your kid off the phone and computer, buy these books.
Derived From Web , Oct 26, 2021
Like most children, my son spends far too much time on his phone and computer. Computer games in particular are very interesting. But since he found these I Survive books, we can not get them out of his hand. He has already read several and has made me a list of ones he wants to see next. I told him to first look at the library and if they don 't have them, I will buy them here. It is really that big of a difference.

Bought some and ordered some after reading the first couple with my 6-7 year old, we bought everyone from the series. Such a young read for great children is such a great read. True events are really fun and enjoyable, but about true events, not just fun and enjoyable. Great history lesson and makes learning fun. My son could not wait to start the next one. Highly recommended for any young reader. If you are not sure about it, I tell you that you’ll thank me after reading the first. They are all fantastic!

Very interesting. In fact, I have bought all the ones available because they were so very good. Each of these books is well written and well researched and shows kids as heroes. Young boys need these books, and girls will also enjoy them. I bought two sets to give two grandsons.

Enjoyable for parents as much as kids

I enjoyed it with my 2nd grade son, we switched the reading chapters off. I was intrigued enough to look on my own more about the Blizzard of the children. Author has figured out a formula that works, she tweaks it for each book in series, but so much more interesting to read than a lot of early chapter books. My son really engages me to read and enjoy it, which is my main goal at this stage. It's a bonus that I also enjoy reading this series.

Great way to foster a love of history!
Derived From Web , Mar 6, 2018
The books I Survived are a huge hit in my second grade son's school. At first, I thought he was just collecting the books because that seems to be the thing this year, but it turns out that these books have helped promote a love of history and made the required reading times much more enjoyable. I was skeptical about some of the topics being too scary for my second grader, but they are written in a way that is informative and appropriate for the age group. We enjoyed this one, set in the Dakotas because that is where we live and the blizzard is something we regularly survive during winters here.
