Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

New York Times bestselling author Lauren Tarshis provides a birds-eye view of one of America's most ghastly accidents ever be captured on film, the Hindenburg Disaster of 1937.
The greatest flying machine ever built is about to crash.
For eleven-year-old Hugo Ballard, flying on the Hindenburg is a dream come true. Hugo, his parents, and his four-year-old sister, Gertie, are making the thrilling four-thousand-mile journey across the Atlantic in a zeppelin as big as the Titanic.
But as the zeppelin gets ready to land, a blast rocks the Hindenburg and fire consumes the ship. The entire disaster lasts a mere thirty-two seconds, but in those few seconds, Hugo finds himself separated from his family and in a desperate race to escape the flames. The Hindenburg is doomed. And so, it seems, is Hugo. Will he survive this historic disaster?

   Lauren Tarshis scores again!!
A great way to teach children about history, even if they don't read it. Although the plot often wears thin and is not always credible, the story is often gripping. One of the great tragedies of the 20th century, the Hindenburg Disaster story stands in a class by itself. I am very pleased with the research done by Lauren Tarshis and truly has made a point of getting the facts correct. Although the series has sold well over 1 million copies, many children will be pleased to read the latest installment in the "Frog" series and will patiently wait for the next book.

   My 11 year old boy gives two thumbs up!!
It was a present from my son who is a huge fan of historical fiction. Pauley also points out that despite all the criticism, the series has come out and loved by both readers and critics alike. He's really excited to read them, I love that he gets excited about them. Only in the past few weeks have we seen trailers for the movies, and I'm hoping they could release more soon. Quattrone, who heads the Criminal Division, said: "There was no question that the client would have been killed.

   I survived A+++
My son LOVES the I survived series and he insisted that I order this book in addition to the 10 others I just bought. He read this then asked to watch a Hindenburg disaster documentary.

   Great books
My daughter caught on to these when her younger sister brought this home from school. I can't get enough of these! She does whip through them quick but anything to get her to enjoy reading is welcome.

   Arrived with a bent cover
His grandson, who only started reading the book, loved it. It arrived with the corner of the cover raised slightly. He is only 7 but it wasn't that big a deal, Mr Hughes said.
