The terrifying details of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake jump off the page
Ten-year-old Leo loves being a newsboy in San Francisco -- not only does he get to make some money to help his family, he's free to explore the amazing, hilly city as it changes and grows with the new century. Horse-drawn carriages share the streets with shiny new automobiles, new businesses and families move in every day from everywhere, and anything seems possible.
But early one spring morning, everything changes. Leo's world is shaken -- literally -- and he finds himself stranded in the middle of San Francisco as it crumbles and burns to the ground. Does Leo have what it takes to survive this devastating disaster?
The I SURVIVED series continues with another thrilling story of a boy caught in one of history's most terrifying disasters

Great story and very enrapturing for children
My son has read all three of the books, and they are always a page turner. I think the narrative of the main characters help to engross young minds and make them feel invested in what is happening all the while teaching them history, which I feel is a neglected curriculum in schools these days.

   Great series.
My daughter absolutely loves the books. She has read them all, sometimes to three, and shares them with her classmates as they take turns taking them home to read.

   Great for reluctant boy readers
If given a choice, he will pick Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Snoopy. I'm a reading teacher and I wanted him to try other genres and more chapter books, too. I found this series and he loved it, too. He begged me to buy them all, he said. He would still rather play than read, but when it is time to do so, he doesn't fuss if he has one of his, I survived. I now recommend them to all of his friends and family.

   Educational with fun!
My daughter has read all the books, and she's not even a teenager. She thought it was interesting and she was learning while she read about something that really happened. Great way to teach, said Dr. Michael Davis, director of the academy's Early Years program.

   "I Survived" scores again!
Librarian, I'm not a doctor. My kids and I love this series, it was great. Great adventure for kids based on excellent research, the book says.

More about a gold nugget than an earthquake
The book is about an earthquake in the US. I am working with a group of 9 year olds reading this and they wondered why there wasn't more facts about earthquakes in the story. The story focused more on a gold nugget that is stolen, found and sold. If I had wanted to know more about the gold rush, I would have picked a book about the gold rush.

   Good Read
I purchased this for my 7 year old nephew, who is an Outstanding reader, according to his school reports. I always read the books I give him first, and he enjoyed it. A good read for adults and children alike, as are the other I Survived... books.
